Business Development Professional

Peraton is seeking a dynamic Business Development professional to drive growth within our Department of Homeland Security (DHS) accounts, with a specific focus on Headquarters and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Components. This role is an integral part of the Citizen Security and Public Services growth team and collaborates closely with operational and functional leaders across the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the federal homeland security landscape, with proven experience in identifying and developing new business opportunities. Responsibilities include evaluating market trends, building strong customer and partner relationships, and developing compelling business cases that align customer needs with Peraton's capabilities and differentiators.

A qualified candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated successful track record of supporting and winning contracts across DHS organizations and the broader federal civilian community.
  • Current broad market relationships and proven experience building relationships with strategic teaming partners (prime and sub).
  • Developed and mature key relationships across DHS, and other federal government agencies.
  • Ability to think strategically and operate independently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing resources to create, identify, develop, and qualify opportunities that align to the company's strategic campaigns that result in meaningful and measurable revenue growth.
  • Achieving acquisition and sales goals through winning new business, contract recompetes, teaming, and organic program growth.
  • Developing and maintaining an active strategic growth plan, and the associated pipeline, in alignment and consistent with corporate campaign strategy and goals.
  • Primary interface with customer community for assigned opportunities.
  • Building customer relationships through effective communications.
  • Developing strategies to "shape" requirements and acquisition strategy.
  • Identifying and targeting new business markets, adjacencies, and partnerships.
  • Embracing the Peraton Business Acquisition Process in daily activities and effectively managing and communicating all the opportunities and plans for management and technical teams.
  • Assisting in guiding potential customers by demonstrating technology solutions, architectures, capabilities, and potential acquisition paths for early stage opportunities, working with internal technical and program management teams to develop responses for requests for information (RFI), market surveys, white papers, presentations, briefings, and major event demonstrations.

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years related work experience with a minimum of 3+ yrs related to business development, capture, or technical and engineering solutions with DHS and specifically Headquarters and CBP, and other federal agencies.
  • A demonstrated track record of successful pursuits in excess of $30M.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% for customer/partner meetings and conferences.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

The Position:

The Market Development Liaison is assigned a geographic territory and is responsible for driving market growth and business development within the healthcare sector. This role involves working closely with rheumatologists and advanced practice providers, referring providers/practices, Articularis practice leaders and central services leaders, etc. to meet goals. The market development representative represents and promotes Articularis in various networking events and ensures the organization's presence in the market grows consistently.

We are seeking a Market Development Specialist to join any U.S. Office of K&L Gates. Working under the direction of a Business Development Manager or Director, the Business Development Specialist (BDS) will support and execute marketing and business development programs for firmwide practice areas, industry groups, and offices. The BDS will interact significantly with lawyers, office and practice managers, and firm administration. Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, project management abilities, and the capacity to implement strategic directives and coordinate marketing functions. The BDS will see projects through from concept to delivery, sometimes with limited oversight. Candidates must be self-starters, able to work independently and collaboratively. Essential Duties

  1. Assist practice groups and lawyers with marketing, business, and client development projects, providing general support.
  2. Serve as a primary contact for creating and assembling marketing materials and packages.
  3. Create and deliver client proposals, qualifications, and presentations for new business opportunities.
  4. Draft, edit, and proof marketing collateral, slide decks, letters, invitations, and biographies.
  5. Maintain practice group contact lists in the CRM database, coordinating with lawyers and secretaries.
  6. Develop experience lists for practice areas and lawyer activities.
  7. Prepare marketing research reports and develop prospect lists for initiatives.
  8. Coordinate the development of articles, newsletters, and other marketing communications.
  9. Plan and support practice/industry group and office events, including logistics and follow-up activities.
  10. Track business development activities in the firms proposal system.
  11. Support public relations activities.
  12. Coordinate membership and renewals in trade organizations.
  13. Manage reprint permissions and marketing materials stock.
  14. Participate in firmwide marketing initiatives and special projects.
  15. Collaborate with Business Development Coordinators and oversee assigned tasks.
  16. Undertake other projects as assigned.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and service orientation.
  • Confidence to interact with internal and external clients.
  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and research tools; knowledge of InterAction CRM is a plus.
  • Good judgment, decision-making, and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, and creativity.
  • Self-motivated team player capable of working independently.

As a member of the Global Client Growth team, the Market Development Specialist will support and execute marketing and business development programs for the firm's established industry teams, primarily Financial Services. The Specialist will collaborate with respective industry leadership, individual partners, and members of the Client Growth Team to plan and support current and forward-looking market development activities with a focus on go-to-market strategy, key accounts, and business development.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Go-To-Market Support:
  • Collaborate closely with lawyers and members of Client Growth's content and events teams to execute and generate market-specific content campaigns, marketing collateral, and events with a goal of increasing visibility of industry capabilities and generate client opportunities
  • Understand the respective industry market(s), business trends, and competitive landscape for legal services
  • Execute, measure, and report on go-to-market initiatives by industry
  • Coordinate and contribute to submissions for rankings and awards
Key Account Development Support:
  • Support key accounts within industry groups
  • Execute and support cross-market initiatives that match firm solutions to client needs within specific markets, practices and/or industries
Business Development Support:
  • Assist lawyers in executing business development activities and plans, using resources across the firm's network, for support as appropriate
  • Work closely with lawyers, Client Growth team members, and firmwide personnel to carry out strategic approaches to significant opportunities and assist the Pitches and Proposals team with preparing proposal content and RFP responses, drafting proposals and presentations, and documenting industry qualifications and experience for new business
  • Support group and individual lawyers' business development efforts by performing research, attending events, tracking results, and producing reports on business development activity, and coordinating memberships with professional and trade associations
  • Follow up with lawyers and document outcomes and client debriefing results as assigned
Industry Team Support:
  • Understand and support the documentation, management, and transfer of the industry's business development and marketing norms, protocols, and help ensure that all team members globally are equipped with the institutional knowledge to support the industry
  • Contribute to and provide support for the development of the annual marketing and business development budget with leadership
  • Assist in orienting new lateral attorneys to firm. This can include communicating Client Growth department structure and capabilities, collaborating with related practice group-oriented Client Growth teams, and helping with initial integration into the firm and business development activities
  • Execute firm wide initiatives and undertake other projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
  • Minimum of three years of marketing, business development and/or sales experience in a professional services firm or closely related work environment; experience within a large national or international firm preferred
  • Knowledge of the global marketplace for professional services
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels
