Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with strong expertise in Microbiology and Chemistry. The ideal candidate will have experience with positive blood cultures and spinal fluid gram stains. Familiarity with molecular testing is a plus. Candidates with experience using Roche Chemistry analyzers or middleware will stand out.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and analyze laboratory tests in Microbiology and Chemistry.
  • Conduct Gram stains and molecular testing as needed.
  • Utilize Roche Chemistry analyzers and middleware effectively.
Required Experience & Certifications
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
  • ASCP certification is required; BLS certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with Soft and SoftMIC is a distinguishing factor.

The **Clinical Operations Medical Director** is responsible for supporting the medical management staff ensuring timely and consistent medical decisions to members and providers.
**How you will make an impact:**
+ Perform physician-level case review, following initial nurse review, of Medical Oncology regimens and supportive care.
+ Perform physician-level case review, following initial nurse review, of chemotherapy regimens.
+ Determine medical necessity of requests using guidelines and client-specific health plan medical policy.
+ Conduct peer-to-peer discussions with ordering physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners to provide education regarding established guidelines and accepted standards of oncology care.
+ Document the pre-certification review in a complete, concise, and accurate manner in the pre-certification computer application.
+ Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge of new cancer treatment regimens.
+ As necessary, assist pre-certification nurses and other staff in understanding the principles behind appropriate utilization of covered treatments and genetic testing.
+ Participate in periodic physician team meetings.
+ Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of relevant policies and regulations pertaining to utilization review of oncology care.
+ Participate on committees or in work groups as needed for revision of clinical guidelines and/or serve as a subject matter expert.
+ Perform first level provider appeals as designated by the client for adverse determinations.
+ Obtain additional state licensure based upon business needs.
+ Adhere to all company protocols, policies, and procedures.
+ Ensures timely completion of clinical case reviews for their board certified specialty.
+ Makes physician to physician calls to gather medical appropriate information in order to make medical necessity determinations for services requested.
+ Makes medical necessity determinations for grievance and appeals appropriate for their specialty.
+ Ensures consistent use of company medical policies when making medical necessity decisions.
+ Brings to their supervisors attention, any case review decisions that require Medical Director review or policy interpretation.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Requires MD or DO and Board certification approved by one of the following certifying boards is required, where applicable to duties being performed, American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
+ Must possess an active unrestricted medical license to practice medicine or a health profession.
+ Minimum of 1 year of experience with clinical case reviews for medical necessity. _The minimum of 1 year of experience with clinical case reviews would be waived for the following specific specialties only; Cardiology, Oncology, and Interventional Pain specialties._
+ Board certification in a medical specialty required.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ **Board Certification in Medical Oncology** strongly preferred.
+ 3-5 years of clinical practice experience past fellowship training is desirable.

+ Serve as the Physician match reviewer in Medical Oncology and imaging cases, that do not initially meet the applicable medical necessity guidelines, as well as other imaging requests when providers, clients, or state laws require specialty reviews to be completed by the subject matter expert.
+ Discusses determinations (peer to peer phone calls) with requesting physicians or ordering providers, when available, within the regulatory timeframe of the request and provides clinical rationale for standard and expedited appeals.
+ Utilizes medical/clinical review guidelines and parameters to assure consistency in the MD review process to reflect appropriate utilization and compliance with SBU`s policies/procedures, as well as Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.
+ Aids and acts as a resource to Initial Clinical Reviewers.
+ Ensures documentation of all communications with medical office staff and/or MD provider is recorded in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications-

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Transcribe and dictate grossing and microscopic descriptions of surgical pathology cases comprised of moderately difficult medical terminology.

  • Accurate and timely data entry of dictated and/or handwritten pathology cases into the laboratory information system

  • Provides complete and accurate resolution to all user inquiries or redirects the inquirer to the appropriate resource(s) in a timely manner

  • Identifies problems, determines and provides/implements appropriate corrective action/accurate solutions

  • Researches, troubleshoots, and follows up to ensure all inquiries/problems are resolved in a timely manner

  • Transcribe medical reports, summaries, office visit notes, and other medical documents from recorded messages from health care providers

  • Provide online copies of transcribed documents to physicians or other providers for review and signature, making corrections or changes as noted

  • Work with transcription and dictation equipment that can include speech recognition equipment, word processing, and computer software

  • Maintain strict adherence to patient confidentiality according to provider standards and government regulations

  • Review transcription documents for quality assurance and precision to spot and correct any errors that could impact patient care and medical liability

  • Create templates and enter data into electronic health record (EHR) systems for updated record keeping and archives

Requirements:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Previous transcriptionist experience, preferably in Pathology

  • Experience with transcriptionist software is preferred

  • Excellent data entry and typing skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • High level of attention to details

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Our client is a Health Care provider located in Engelwood, NJ seeking a Medical Paralegal.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and organize medical records, billing statements, and payer correspondence related to OON claims
  • Prepare IDR submissions and manage timelines under the No Surprises Act
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research on federal and state laws impacting NSA and OON claims
  • Coordinate with providers, insurers, and legal teams to resolve reimbursement disputes
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case tracking systems

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification or relevant experience in healthcare law
  • 2+ years of experience in medical claims, insurance, or healthcare legal compliance
  • Familiarity with NSA regulations, IDR procedures, and medical billing terminology
  • Strong organizational, communication, and legal writing skills


The annual base salary range is $80k to $110k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
