**Work Schedule:** **2nd shift; Monday - Thursday 1:00PM - 11:30PM with rotating weekends**

**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
+ Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
+ Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
+ Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
+ Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
+ Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
+ Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
+ Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
+ Assist with processing of specimens when needed
+ Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
**Requirements:**
+ Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or non-traditional Associate's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
+ Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is highly preferred
+ Core lab/generalist experience preferred
+ ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
+ Ability to work independently and within a team environment
+ Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
+ High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
+ Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
+ Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

**Job Description**
**To receive, order and prepare laboratory samples for analysis as well as perform laboratory tests/procedures on patient specimens in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner under the direct supervision of a Clinical Lab Scientist, Laboratory Supervisor/Manager or Pathologist.**
**Education And Credentials**
AAS - Associate of Applied Science Medical Technology or as outlined in NYSDOE license requirements required. Lab Technician or Lab Technologist within 9 months required, or Lab Technician limited permit required. NYS DOE Clinical laboratory technician/technologist full license upon hire OR clinical laboratory technologist, limited permit required not necessarily prior to hire, however prior to starting. If working with laboratory technician limited permit, must obtain full licensure within 9 months of hire. If a hired employee meets the NYS DOE qualifications for a limited or full license, however, the official limited or full license will be delayed at NYS DOE due to processing time, KHL will allow the employee to start training with a non-licensed LIS security that does not allow the reporting of results. No patient specimens will be able to be tested or reported by the trainee until a limited or full Medical Technician NYS license (or Clinical Laboratory Technologist) is granted and verified by the NYS DOE.
