You will be the Sheet Metal Fabrication and Assembler C for our Grand Prairie team. Our team is responsible for performing complex sheet metal assembly operations to support the development of experimental, production, and prototype missile systems and other assemblies.
**What You Will Be Doing**
As the Sheet Metal Fabrication and Assembler C, you will be responsible for laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and reworking a wide variety of semi-complicated parts and assemblies. You will be an integral part of our team, working together to deliver high-quality results and drive innovation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing sheet metal assembly operations on complex parts, details, and assemblies
- Constructing simple checking and holding fixtures, making simple templates and form blocks
- Assembling semi-complicated assemblies, riveting, hand hammering, and performing close tolerance drilling and reaming
- Operating sheet metal equipment such as brakes, rolls, and routers, and using hand tools as required
- Fabricating special equipment as needed and assisting with more difficult work, including rigging operations and straightening of shafts and beams
- Maintaining required paperwork and keeping your work area clean and orderly

Metal Fabrication is responsible for forming parts to print specifications, help in training new employees, and establish part flow and pace of the department. Also responsible for making sure press is in safe operating position and which dies to use in the machines when forming parts.

**Key Responsibilities:**
Supplier Relationship Management
+ Identify and establish new supplier relationships to ensure effective communication and alignment with Polaris.
+ Lead the development and implementation of supply agreements and long-term agreements (LTAs), with final approval by the Purchasing Manager or higher.
+ Manage supplier selection and maintain the RFx matrix for assigned commodities.
+ Propose supplier onboarding and exits to the Purchasing Manager, and execute approved changes.
+ Initiate RFx processes for new parts and part revisions, aligned with the commodity strategy, and recommend supplier selections.
+ Assess supplier capabilities and strategic fit based on input from the commodity team and cross-functional stakeholders.
+ Coordinate cost reduction initiatives, supplier transitions, and tooling changes.
+ Oversee project cost, schedule, technical requirements, and drawing release status, and lead corrective actions as needed.
Commodity Strategy
+ Lead the development and execution of the commodity strategy to support organizational goals and long-term plans.
+ Define a multi-year vision for the commodity, incorporating input from internal stakeholders, purchasing objectives, risk assessments, growth projections, and the broader supply chain strategy.
+ Identify, introduce, and integrate new metal forming and assembly capabilities into the supply base to enhance technical performance and innovation.
Sourcing Priority Management
+ Develop and execute both short-term and long-term cost reduction strategies for assigned commodities, aligned with budget targets and long-range planning (LRP) commitments.
+ Leverage tools such as fact-based negotiation, should-cost modeling, and competitive market analysis to initiate cost reduction initiatives.
+ Establish contractual commitments to secure long-term cost savings and support departmental financial goals.
+ Monitor and drive supplier performance across assigned categories to ensure compliance with Polaris's quality and delivery standards.
+ Support the supplier quality function by identifying root causes of quality issues and coordinating containment and corrective actions.
Leadership
+ Provide clear direction and support to team members, fostering a culture of transparency, continuous learning, and professional growth.

**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or related discipline.

+ APICS CPIM and/or ISM C.P.M./A.P.P. certifications preferred.
+ Knowledge or experience with metal fabrication processes such as Deep Draw, Hemming, Resistance Spot Welding (RSW), Riveting, Hydroforming, Hot Metal Gas Forming (HMGF), and large stampings.
+ Functional knowledge of engineering documentation, manufacturing process controls, and technical data.
+ Proven track record of strong, effective leadership.

Summary:
The Team Leader lead will be responsible for the personnel and product in their work center(s). They will handle personnel training, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives in their area. Product and personnel status will be measured and reported on to the Production Supervisor. Team Leads are responsible to monitor and manage the completion of shop orders and operations as determined by the part number routing, ensuring operations are complete on time and at or under the allotted labor hours. They actively manage the safety culture, implement refined policies, and ensure their cells are in safe working order. They also review quality data to ensure that manufacturing quality is improving and that the MoM and work instructions are updated to reflect corrective actions.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
+ High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
+ 1 year of leading a welding and fabrication team in a manufacturing environment.
+ Ability to understand and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings is required.
+ Must possess an advanced understanding of workflows in production and prioritize work.
+ Capable of recognizing individual strengths and developmental needs within the team; constructs training to encourage proficiency and overall employee productivity within the cell.
+ Ability to efficiently plan and meet project schedule deadlines, while maintaining contingency plans to preserve committed timeline.
+ Possess an advanced competency using ERPs in a manufacturing environment.
+ Organizational and time management skills: Must manage multiple critical tasks concurrently.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Team leaders will be responsible for as many as 15 operators and all shop orders within their department's work centers.
+ Maintains accurate service records, constructs preventative maintenance plans, schedules equipment services, while mitigating unnecessary interruptions to production schedules.
+ Accurately maintain compliance of all required documentation and production reporting.
+ Must be the steward of quality: observe machine operation, technician output, identify defects, and deviations from standards. Utilize discrepancy data obtained to troubleshoot and conduct a root cause analysis; provide solutions and training to mitigate noncompliance.
+ Sets the pace of work within cell utilizing IFS routings and data to determine if expectations are met.
+ Reviews part number routings before beginning work, reporting issues to Production Supervisor.
+ Accurately reports schedule - on time/late/ahead of schedule.
+ Utilizes forecast planning to mitigate parts shortages and ensure timely notification is sent to material handlers, preventing interruptions in production.
+ Responsible for keeping manufacturing traveler and Bus BoM/Kanban usage updated and filling in appropriate location upon job completion.

+ Knows and applies the operating principles, purpose, and proper application and design limitations of sheet metal working machine tools used in the production and manufacturing process.
+ Reads and works to the indicated accuracy, specifications and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blueprints, sketches, equipment manuals and vendor diagrams. Works with both U.S. customary and IS (metric) systems of measurement.
+ Sets up and operates a wide variety of sheet metal working machine tools such as: punch presses, power and hand rollers, power and hand brakes, power notchers, hand notchers, shears, drill presses, riveters, related hand operated equipment, NC/CNC/MDI Machines, and other similar sheet metal working machine or hand tools.
+ Sets up parts in equipment using appropriate tools and devices for forming, bending, blanking, rolling, extruding, drawing and similar operations.
+ Knows the various finish specifications; sets up and operates equipment and hand tools to obtain sanded or polished finishes as specified.
**Your Skills and Expertise**

+ Possess a two (2) year technical degree, certificate or diploma (completed prior to start), AND three (3) years of related experience.
