Job Description
The Network Architect is part of the Information Technology (IT) department, which resides on the IT Infrastructure team and reports to the Director of IT Services. As the Network Architect, you will be responsible for leading and architecting major network projects that have high impact while maintaining minimal down time. The Network Architect will ensure the security and configuration of our enterprise devices meet all required CIS standards, best practices, and approved levels of compliance.
This role will require working in-person from our Albany, NY office.
What You'll Do:
- Full life-cycle network engineering: design, configuration, implementation, and management
- Work with stakeholders to interpret internal/external business challenges and design and solution to meet requests and issues raised by the organization
- Make decisions, take action, lead meetings and projects, and plan network solutions independently with guidance in only the most complex situations
- Maintain and architect all network infrastructure and ensure each infrastructure adheres to foundational best practices and compliance standards
- Architect and implement enterprise network solutions
- Prevent, detect, and resolve security threats to the organization
- Identify and drive improvements in infrastructure and system reliability, performance, monitoring, and overall stability of CIS systems
- Ability to travel as needed between multiple CIS office locations
- On call and after-hours support are required
- Perform other duties as required including lifting objects of up to 50 lbs

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field*
- 7+ years' experience managing a Cisco network in a complex environment, specifically maintaining and configuring Cisco next generation firewalls, routers, and switches
- 5+ years' experience designing and architecting network solutions
- Cisco CCNP certification, Data Center preferred
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and configuring Cisco ISE, ACI and Firepower platforms
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Software Defined Networking (SDN) in AWS and Azure
- Ability to interpret internal or external business needs and deliver technical solutions
- Demonstrated experience in designing locals and wide area network routing schemas

- Design, implement, and maintain the client’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless network infrastructure.
- Provide customer support to clients located across the globe.
- Troubleshoot/resolve complex issues and handle service requests for clients related to Cisco routing and switching infrastructure, Cisco Meraki and legacy wireless infrastructure, Palo Alto technologies, Cisco, and Fortinet firewalls.
- Collaborate with relevant teams, departments, or external parties to resolve cases that require specialized knowledge or resources.
- Serve as the ultimate escalation point for critical network incidents and outages. Lead the response effort, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and drive resolution to minimize downtime and impact on business operations.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the network services team. Mentor junior team members, share knowledge, and promote best practices for network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, products, and solutions relevant to the organization's strategic objectives. Identify PoC opportunities that align with business needs and technical requirements.
- Engage proactively with clients to comprehend their unique network requisites and collaboratively engineer tailored solutions that align with their goals.
- Create and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and policies/procedures.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in this field
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education
- Experience in network support and delivering network projects.
- Expert level technical certifications such as CCIE or training equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki (preferred), Cisco ISR and Catalyst switches, Palo Alto networking equipment including deployment
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues in technologies related to routing, switching, VPN (Global protect and Anyconnect), wireless, certificates, network slowness, etc.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and best practices
- Experience in planning, executing, and overseeing network projects from initiation to completion.
- Design and architecture experience.
- Hands on experience with Azure.
- Troubleshooting at a top tier escalation level or part of top tier escalation list.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- FortiGate certification ---> Palo Alto Certification PCNSE
- Experience with Managed Service Providers (MSP)
- Financial Services Industry experience

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Off-campus system support duties will require use of a private vehicle. Valid Driver's License, Motor Vehicle Report, and proof of vehicle liability insurance in amount required by Saint Francis Health System (SFHS) guidelines will be required.
Work Experience: Minimum 5 years of large network infrastructure support greater than 1000.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software.
