Job Summary:
This position is for a Network Administrator within the Network Services organization supporting Kaiser Permanente's F5 Load Balancing infrastructure . Kaiser Permanente operates within a ITIL framework . This position will directly support aspects within the F5 Load Balancer Network Operations. Shift flexibility required and will include working nights, weekends, Holidays.
Potential candidates submitting for this position must show the ability to think both critically, creatively, independently, cooperatively, be flexible and agile. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for a deep understanding of one or more networking technologies (Data Center networking , LAN, WAN, Voice, Wireless, TCIP/IP protocols and services). Some of the unique challenges this position will face include working on a large scale network, across 1,000 sites with multiple data centers requiring 5 9s availability.

As part of the IT Engineering job family, this position is responsible for leveraging DEVOPS, and both Waterfall and Agile practices, to design, develop, and deliver resilient, secure, multi-channel, high-volume, high-transaction, on/off-premise, cloud-based solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum four (4) years experience in network infrastructure planning, design, and implementation.

Minimum one (1) year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field and Minimum six (6) years experience in an IT operations environment with technical experience in distributed technologies , systems development, and/or networking. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
· 5 years related Network Engineering and/or Operations experience (or similar IT experience)
· Strong experience with deploying, operating DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management (DDI) protocols and Infrastructures
· Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking including switching, routing, WLAN, common protocols, and services.
· 5 years minimum experience supporting F5 Load Balancing environment .
· Detailed knowledge of F5 BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM)
· Detailed knowledge of F5 BIG-IP DNS formerly known as Global Traffic Manager (GTM)
· Strong understanding of Linux/Unix Operating systems
· Strong understanding with Unix shell scripting and Python

- Solve complex cloud solution problems with no defined solutions.

Job DescriptionWe have an opening for a Senior Network Engineer to provide advanced level engineering in the areas of network design, configuration, and management considering emerging technologies, best practices, and industry standards. You will articulate advanced networking concepts to programmatic management and systems architects to collaboratively design a cohesive, structured, and secured network environment. The position is in the Livermore Computing (LC) Division's Network and Security Operations Group within the Computing Directorate.
Business needs require that this position have an on-site presence multiple days a week.Telecommuting options will be limited.

You will
- Provide SME-level knowledge in configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, routing protocols, software defined networks (SDN), policy-based routing, spanning tree protocol, and firewalls in large, complex networks, network services, enterprise services and applications relating to network technologies.
- Architect and implement complex HPC datacenter networks, utilizing modern networking overlay technologies including EVPN, VXLan, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), etc.
- Design and implement enterprise-class network infrastructure based on technology from Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto Networks, F5, and other related network technologies.
- Provide advanced network troubleshooting and advanced operational support in Linux environments, network security, as well as support for edge, core, distribution, and access layers of the network.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Develop innovative solutions that will lead to a cohesive, structured, and secured network environment in collaboration with team members.

Qualifications
- This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or Information Systems or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Advanced ability to troubleshoot infrastructure capacity/performance problems and provide proposed solutions.
- Significant experience configuring and managing a medium to large datacenter and enterprise networks in LAN & WAN environments, including significant experience troubleshooting complex issues within those environments.
- Significant experience supporting secure, highly reliable enterprise networks with comprehensive knowledge of L2/L3 network principles and routing protocols, and experience designing, configuring, operating, monitoring, and management of switches and routers or equivalent network equipment.

Job Description
We have an opening for a Senior Network Engineer to provide advanced level engineering in the areas of network design, configuration, and management considering emerging technologies, best practices, and industry standards. You will articulate advanced networking concepts to programmatic management and systems architects to collaboratively design a cohesive, structured, and secured network environment. The position is in the Livermore Computing (LC) Division's Network and Security Operations Group within the Computing Directorate.
Business needs require that this position have an on-site presence multiple days a week.Telecommuting options will be limited.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will
- Provide SME-level knowledge in configuring and troubleshooting VLANs, routing protocols, software defined networks (SDN), policy-based routing, spanning tree protocol, and firewalls in large, complex networks, network services, enterprise services and applications relating to network technologies.
- Architect and implement complex HPC datacenter networks, utilizing modern networking overlay technologies including EVPN, VXLan, Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI), etc.
- Design and implement enterprise-class network infrastructure based on technology from Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto Networks, F5, and other related network technologies.
- Provide advanced network troubleshooting and advanced operational support in Linux environments, network security, as well as support for edge, core, distribution, and access layers of the network.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Develop innovative solutions that will lead to a cohesive, structured, and secured network environment in collaboration with team members.
- Define network requirements and solutions to meet customer needs while interfacing with LLNL customers.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or Information Systems or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.

- Significant experience configuring and managing a medium to large datacenter and enterprise networks in LAN & WAN environments, including significant experience troubleshooting complex issues within those environments.

Deliver network solutions for business applications and infrastructure technology. Lead the development and deployment of communication solutions, including integration testing. Develop turn-over documentation for handing off to Operations teams. Design, deploy, maintain, solutions across, on-prem and cloud networks.
Manage multiple high-priority, high-pressure projects. Act as point of escalation for network related support cases. Implement fault-tolerance across all critical networked environments. Integrate networks with Public Cloud providers (e.g., Azure/GCP) using transit VPC, IPSec and other Secure Cloud Interconnects. Lead the design and implementation of Enterprise solutions focused in the areas of network and data center technologies. Create the governing principles around network design across the organization. Define the network engineering standard processes and procedures. Design, test, implement, and support network infrastructure. Provide consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and network configuration.
Project planning and designing scalable network infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements for a reliable network (includes detailing current and future requirements, planning analysis, project design, cost and personnel resource estimation for project implementation). Ensure network performance and availability meets enterprise objectives for timely service restoration and tuning.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Experience must include:
- Four (4) years designing, deploying of experience, maintaining, and improving on-prem and cloud networks
- Four (4) years of experience with network operating systems, including Juniper, Cisco IOS and NxOS
- Four (4) year of experience with LAN/WAN architecture and implementation for large enterprise networks (10,000 plus devices).
- Three (3) years of experience creating and delivering detailed technical presentations of network solutions to Senior/Executive level Management.
- Four (4) years of experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 advanced protocols.
- Four (4) years' experience with Palo Alto/Fortinet Firewall Design, Engineering and L4 troubleshooting.
- Four (4) years' experience with BGP, OSPF, VSS, VPC, VNET protocols.
- Four (4) years' experience with SD-WAN Design and implementation.
