Below is a brief description of the position
The full time Registered Nurse will provide nursing assessment and oversight to community-based residential homes in Waterbury, Montpelier, and Barre. Residents have a variety of physical and mental health conditions.
Position is 30 - 40 hours per week and is based in Washington County. Must have solid clinical skills to apply to clients of widely varied ages and health care needs, and further challenged by developmental or mental health needs.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to generate protocols and procedures as resident health conditions dictate.
- Assure that all medications are in place, ordered, renewed and ready for medication administration by residential support staff.
- Assure that all staff are delegated for medication administration and special care procedures.
- Coordinate and/or teach all annual medically related training to residential support staff: including Seizure Disorders, Infection Control, Medication Administration, etc.
- Promote respectful and effective communication between all partners, residents, staff, medical professionals, vendors etc.
- Support the nursing department with other tasks as needed – coverage, trainings, etc.
- Other duties as requested by the supervisor.
The successful candidate must be in good standing and hold a RN license in Vermont. The position requires you to have access to a safe, reliable vehicle that can meets Vermont’s minimum insurance requirements, as is having a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record. Mental health and residential nursing experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, as well as a team member, and to serve as an example of professional nursing excellence. They must also show exemplary interpersonal skills and demonstrate strong administrative and assessment skill.
Compensation and benefits:
This 30-40 hour per week position starts at $38.70/hr and includes comprehensive benefits including paid time off, employer-sponsored health, dental, life, and disability insurances; a 403(b) retirement plan with generous employer match; and educational benefits such as tuition reimbursement and student loan repayment.

The Clinical Review Registered Nurse will be responsible to facilitate members’ healthcare needs, authorizing medically necessary services including behavioral health at the right level of care to promote optimal health.
Clinical Review Registered Nurse Responsibilities:
- Self-directed and works independently and collaboratively with the team to facilitate care using clinical skills, principles of managed care, nationally recognized medical necessity criteria, and company medical policies.
- Conduct clinical reviews for preservice, concurrent, and retrospective authorizations that promote efficient and medically appropriate use of members benefits to provide cost effective and high-quality care.
- Emphasis on utilization management, discharge planning, clinical outcomes and the ability to assess, analyze, draw conclusions, and construct effective solutions, identify questionable cases and refer to superior or medical director for review.
- Proficient with multiple IT systems.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- Able to follow regulatory requirements with audit feedback incorporated into future work.
Clinical Review Registered Nurse Qualifications:
- RN with Vermont License required, BSN desired.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a variety of appropriate clinical health care settings (inpatient, outpatient, or differing levels of care),
- 1- 3 years of insurance related experience desired.
- Must be willing to participate in on-going CEU training.
- Must be willing to participate in after hours on call rotation
