• Clinical conferences are held four times a week. It is required that you attend at least one per week for the first 90 days of employment; after that, it is required that you attend one monthly.

• Must have a PMHNP license and open to licensing in alternative states.

The New Mexico Department of Health Public Health Division works in conjunction with the Public Health Offices to ensure Health Equity for all our communities by providing access to various programs. Our goal is to create healthier communities through disease prevention/testing/treatment, education, and providing access to everyone regardless of socioeconomic status. We are available to assist community partners with Educational programs geared towards various audiences from the youth to the older adult.

Why does the job exist?

Adult and pediatric Immunization Administration/Sexually transmitted infection testing, treatment and follow up/Family Planning: birth control dispensing/administration, pregnancy testing, limited STI testing and treatment/TB assessments, testing, contact investigations, treatment, and case management/Complete client care via standing orders, protocols, or clinician orders/Providing education on all the above topics to clients and/or their parents/Assisting with School based vaccination clinics/Harm Reduction: syringe exchange, Narcan dispensing and information.

How does it get done?

In person client visits and interviews; Obtaining blood specimens via blood draws, specimen collection of urine and/or swabs; dispensing medications and/or birth control; Administering injections, i.e. vaccinations or medications; follow up with other clinics/Doctors via phone, fax, or email; Provide referral services to other clinics for continuation of care; Case Management of client testing, treatment, and follow up care to ensure all tasks have been completed.

The Public Community: Non-Insured and Insured Adults, pediatric clients, Confidential Teens and incarcerated individuals.

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision by following standing orders and protocols; have computer experience regarding Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Office Suite, Language Interpretation phone lines, and Adobe Programs while using multiple computer screens; able to adapt to quick changing schedules and program requirements; ability to efficiently learn protocols, duties, computer programs correctly; communicate with clients and co-workers in a respectful manner both verbally and electronically; care for all clients respectfully and courteously regardless of personal beliefs; Bilingual-English/Spanish.

Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
