DETAILS: Substitute positions work on an as needed basis during the 9.5 month school year. Must be willing to substitute at least (5) times throughout the school year.

COMPENSATION: The Substitute Nurse rate of pay is $29.61 per hour. A full day for a Substitute Nurse would be an 8 hour day. This position works an irregular schedule therefore, this position does not include benefits.

JOB SUMMARY: Support the physical, mental, emotional and social health of students and their success in the learning process; support student success by providing health care assessments, identifying problems, planning, intervention, follow-up and health evaluations for all students within the school setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have an Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • A valid and current Missouri Registered Nursing License (RN) is required.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AEDS certification required.
  • Must have at least one year of nursing experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in an educational setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:
  1. Establish and maintain a safe, accessible, positive, and inviting environment for all members of the school community.
  2. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable law and district policy.
  3. Promote and insure universal precautions for the safety of the school community.
  4. Provide first-aid and emergency care to the school community.
  5. Provide general school screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, and related items) according to school policy and procedures.
  6. Provide health related assessments and monitoring as needed.
  7. Serve as a liaison between the school district, medical professional, and parents regarding student health care needs or concerns.
  8. Identify students with health care needs or potential health care needs and assess potential risk factors.
  9. Assist with management of care for students with special health care needs.
  10. Informs administration and/or counseling staff of suspected cases of child abuse, drug abuse, or other instances when signs of abuse may be indicated.
  11. Coordinate and collaborate with parents, staff and consented health care providers regarding student plans of care.
  12. Manage and administer medications to students according to policy and procedure.
  13. Appropriately document all health room visits.
  14. Notify parents or designated responsible person regarding the health status of the student.
  15. Other related and appropriate duties as assigned by the Administration.
