The substitute school nurse is responsible for implementing the school health program in the absence of the permanent school nurse, and/or will be responsible for providing health services to students who are participating in a school-sponsored field trip.
Pay Rate School Year 25-26: $40.99 per hour
Job Summary:
- Implements students' individualized health care plans as developed by staff school nurses
- Provides medication administration, episodic care to all students
- Responds to students' health needs
- Uses electronic health information system to document student encounters
- Communicates with parents, faculty, and medical providers as needed
- Adheres to the Nurse Practice Act, the guidelines of care established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), and works in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Needham Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
- The candidate must possess a current Massachusetts license to practice as a registered nurse
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification
Selection Procedure: All resumes will be screened and selected candidates will participate in a thorough interview process.

The Substitute School Nurse will provide health services to students including but not limited to administering medications, performing ordered treatments, caring for illness, critical decision-making in emergency situations, maintaining confidentiality and documenting in accordance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts laws and the policies and procedures of the School District.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assess and evaluate students health, pertinent family history and home factors, counsel students, parents and school personnel about health problems and issues;
* Maintain appropriate health records;
* Notify appropriate individuals of immediate and potential health related problems;
* Document pertinent information in student records;
* Provide emergency care for all students on school premises in the event of injury or sudden illness;

Duration: Two long term sub openings, one through October 2025 and the other through February of 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement and evaluate student's care needs
+ Demonstrates on each assignment the provision of skill nursing care in accordance with prescribed orders/IHP

+ Willingness to participate in skill advancement, if applicable
+ Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program
+ Current CPR

+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
