**How you make a difference**
The Certified Nursing Assistant performs basic and specialized nursing care functions under the supervision of licensed nurses. They adhere to local and regulatory policies and procedures to ensure proper patient care. The Nursing Assistant collaborates with other healthcare team members and correctional officers to plan and implement patient care activities in a correctional setting. After a general orientation to medical-surgical and psychiatric patient care areas, they may also float between units to ensure adequate nursing staff for patient care areas.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed nurse, including assistance with ADLs, vital sign measurement, and accurate documentation of patient data.
+ Maintains professional behavior and prioritizes work flow to ensure completion of all assigned duties, while adhering to policies and procedures and promoting patient safety and confidentiality.
+ Collaborates with other members of the health care team, participates in staff meetings and training sessions, and notifies the licensed nurse of any patient concerns or issues.

  • Provide Daily Personal Care - Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral care, and other daily functions in accordance with care plans and resident preferences.
  • Ensure Resident Safety & Comfort - Routinely check residents, reposition those unable to move, and assist with transfers and mobility to prevent injuries and ensure comfort.
  • Monitor & Report Changes - Observe residents for any changes in condition, behavior, or injuries and promptly report findings to the Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
  • Document Accurately - Record vital signs, food/fluid intake, output, and daily care activities clearly and accurately using authorized abbreviations and facility protocols.
  • Maintain Cleanliness - Keep residents and their surroundings clean by changing soiled linens, clothing, and gowns; assist with after-meal hygiene; and ensure clean water is within reach.
  • Support Nutrition & Hydration - Assist residents with identifying meals, ensure dietary needs are met, track intake, and report any changes in eating habits.
  • Promote Dignity & Respect - Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times; respect resident rights, including treatment refusals; and report abuse or suspected violations immediately.
  • Assist with Admissions, Transfers & Discharges - Help prepare rooms, greet new residents, assist with packing/unpacking, and support transitions within or outside the facility.
  • Communicate & Collaborate - Participate in shift reports, follow work schedules, and coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless care.
  • Comply with Policies & Training - Follow all safety procedures, infection control protocols, and only perform tasks and operate equipment for which proper training has been provided.

Pay Range: $20-25/hr
