We Are Hiring: Clinical Nurse II- Day Surgery- OMH- 0.8 FTE

The Day Surgery Unit is a 23 bed Outpatient/Ambulatory Surgery unit. The staff provide pre and post operative/procedural care to Surgery, Interventional Radiology, Cath lab, GI and a select populations of Radiology patients receiving anesthesia services. An average of 15 patients per day begin in day surgery with the majority of patients being discharged the day of their procedure and some admitted to critical or inpatient units.

Schedule Details: 11-1930 Monday thru Friday, no weekends, no holidays. Shift start time varies to accommodate surgery schedule. May be scheduled for earlier shifts based upon surgery schedule/vacations.

The Day Surgery department is an outpatient surgical unit that provides care before and after surgery, heart catherization procedures, radiology procedures, and GI procedures. Although the majority of patients are discharged the day of their procedure, some are admitted to critical or acute care units. ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial is certified by The Joint Commission as a Joint Replacement Center of Excellence. Offers the MAKOplasty and Anterior Hip Arthroplasty procedure to patients.

Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital (OMH) Birthing Center is a Level 1 community hospital unit with 12 LDRP's. The unit cares for a variety of populations, including Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, GYN, Pediatrics, and transitional newborn care in our Special Care Nursery. We see approximately 900 patients annually. In additional to providing specialty services for women and children of all ages, the department also provides other services, such as, but not limited to, lactation and resolve through sharing (RTS) perinatal loss support. OMH Birthing Center has over 30 staff members working as Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Health Unit Clerks.

Hours: This .9 FTE commits to 36 hours per week, three 12 hour shifts per week on night shift (1900-0730), every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays. Call shifts based on total fte. Staff will also train to level 2B NICU.

**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Greetings visitors and patients in person
+ Communicates by telephone or video conferencing, upholding excellent customer service
+ Handles confidential information appropriately by protecting and disclosing information to only those authorized

+ Obtains appropriate applications and forms, confirming signatures are on file. Photocopies / scans documents as needed
+ Provides patients with financial responsibility information and collects patient liabilities, documents amount in the appropriate fields, and balances the cash box daily
+ Works with partnering departments (Financial Counseling, Scheduling, Financial Clearance, and clinical areas) to ensure all aspects of the patient's encounter are completed as needed
+ Provides wayfinding instructions and assists with hospital information as requested
+ Coordinates patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards where applicable
+ Meets or exceeds audit accuracy standards. Works worklists and error reports timely, and proactively seeks assistance to resolve as needed
+ May perform other duties upon request

**Required Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma / GED (or higher)

+ Must be 18 years of age or older
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 2+ years of customer service experience in a hospital setting

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
As a member of the nephrology healthcare team, you will provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
+ Sets up, tests, and operates hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
+ Obtains and documents necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
+ Evaluates vascular access pre-treatment and performs vascular access cannulation.
+ Evaluates intradialytic problems and provides intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.
+ Monitors patients' response to dialysis therapy.
+ Evaluates patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
+ Reports any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to supervisor.
+ Enters all treatment data into the designated clinical application in an accurate and timely manner.
+ Collects, labels, appropriately prepares, and stores lab samples according to required laboratory specifications.
+ Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
+ Assists other healthcare members in providing patient education.
+ Prepares, organizes, and efficiently uses supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
**EDUCATION AND LICENSES** **:**
+ High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
**EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS** **:**
+ Qualities and traits: dependable, compassionate, caring, supportive, collaborative, reliable.
+ Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility (preferred but not required).
+ Continued employment is dependent on successful completion of the Fresenius Medical Care dialysis training program and successful completion of CPR certification.

The employee may occasionally be required to push and/or pull equipment, exerting up to 15 pounds of force. The employee may be required to lift and to lower solutions on a frequent basis of up to 30 lbs., and on an occasional basis lift up to 40 lbs., as high as 5 feet. There is a 2-person assist program and "material assist" devices for the heavier items.
