In response to growth, Dietrich Dental Implants and Oral Surgery is looking for an experienced Oral Surgery Assistant. We are a busy, productive office that requires someone with strong organizational and communication skills and who has a sense of urgency and is a fast learner. We are in Canton, Ohio and will be soon opening a second location in Akron, Ohio. We are looking to hire for both locations.
Roles and Responsibilities :
- Understands treatment recommendations and develops treatment plans from diagnosis.
- Effectively communicates treatment options to the patient.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information in accordance with HIPAA.
- Monitors and maintains aseptic technique throughout procedures.
- Maintains an unobstructed operative field using surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning and irrigating equipment.
- Obtains and inspects sterile or nonsterile surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Operates sterilizing devices.
- Monitors patient intra-operative status.
- Obtaining dental radiographs and digital imaging.
- Complete patient clinical narratives
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience :
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS certification required or the ability to complete within 1 month of hire.
- At Least one year of related experience preferred.
- Radiology certification required

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs history and physical examination of all patients seen.

Performs routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients.

Coordinates patient care and makes referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, et cetera, as needed. Collaborates and communicates with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care.

Coordinates patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate.

Teaches wellness habits and educates patients on prevention of potential health problems or method of dealing with present problems. Provides information and materials relating to patient health care needs.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting for up to three (3) hours per day; three (3) hours a t a time. Standing for up to eight (8) hours per day; eight (8) hours at a time. Walking for up to six (6) hours per day; one (1) hour at a time. Frequent fingering, handling, grasping, twisting, and turning as it relates to therapeutic procedures. Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 pounds. Rarely lifting with assistance, up to 100 pounds. Rarely pushing and pulling patients weighing up to 300 pounds in a wheel chair or stretcher. Occasionally stooping and bending. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Seeing as it relates to normal near, far, color, and peripheral vision. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation and high and low frequencies.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in area of specialty.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Current or recent experience in area of specialty.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS: MD or DO - licensed by the state licensure board within the State of practice. Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.

- Provides education instruction for patients and families
- Will maintain and record patient information, prepare and maintain the clinical environment, monitors and reassure patients undergoing dental/OMFS treatment, and provide advice to patients and refer clinical questions to Oral Surgeon
- Complete follow-up phone calls to patients
- Must complete moderate sedation competency
- Will have accountability for Performance Improvement Activity and Nurse activity
- Will work with Dental Assistant Team and Oral Surgeon
- Requires Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's Degree
- Active RN license and 2-3 years patient care experience in a medical/dental facility

We are currently searching for a new Oral Surgery Tech to join our team! Our oral surgery technicians will provide supportive anesthesia care in a safe and effective environment.
What you will do:
- Work up to 36 hours each week
- Shift times are between 7:00am and 5:00pm
- No weekends or holidays!
- Rotating between locations: La Crosse, Onalaska, Winona Dental, Tomah Clinic, Prairie du Chien

What you will need:
- Dental Assistant or Dental Hygiene program completion OR high school diploma
- Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE) from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) within 24 months
- Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Hours of Performance: The performance hours of the MTF are as follows: In general, all Dental Clinics are open between the hours of , Monday-Friday. Routine Clinic hours may vary by location.
Regular dental services may be scheduled between 0600 hrs. (6:00 a.m.) and 2200 (10:00 p.m.) hrs. Monday through Friday, excluding U.S. Federal holidays. Depending on mission requirements, services may be required on weekends.
Pay: $31/hr & Health & Wellness $4.93*/hr worked (in lieu of benefits)

Responsibilities
- Serves as the head clinical nurse for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical (OMS) program.
- Screens patient charts and performs initial patient assessment prior to admission or procedures.
- Provides perioperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care.
- Charts information relative to patient's condition, medication administered, care provided and patient's response to care and treatment.
- Coordinates patient and family education activities. Plans, oversees, and schedules OMS nursing activities.
- Manages clinic and patient records.
- Directly supports the quality assurance program.
- Ensures timely submission and accuracy of performance data, dental records, consultation requests and other health records in approved information management systems.
- Directs military and civilian employees engaged in performing professional and paraprofessional duties in the clinic and operating rooms including medical clerks and/or Red Cross volunteers.
Qualifications
Education: Minimum requirement is for an Associate's Degree of Nursing. Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Certifications: Shall be certified in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) that is approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association and reads Healthcare Provider Course in the subjects listed prior to beginning performance at the Dental Health. Must be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), prior to the beginning of the contract and maintain certification throughout the
term of the contract.
Additional: This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment.
