JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Software Engineer will ensure that our government customer achieves the desired 3rd party software infrastructure, capabilities, and accreditation process for the deployment of software at the speed of relevance. The Senior Software Engineer performing on this contract will possess the required skills, experience and accreditations at the appropriate clearance level and be responsible for executing collaborative autonomy and interoperability architecture and software to maximize the capabilities of uncrewed systems (UxS) to enhance command and control, communications, computing, cyber, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (C5ISR), and targeting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and sustainment of collaborative autonomous software and the implementation of software technical standards and processes to ensure cross platform interoperability. Specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Unmanned Systems Autonomy and Interoperability (UxSAI) Chief Engineer to ensure collaborative autonomy software meets stakeholder functional and quality attribute requirements, use cases, and workflows for autonomous systems and collaborative autonomy.
- Evaluate and assess systems software architectures to identify gaps, problems, and issues impacting the execution of collaborative autonomous system missions.
- Advise leadership on software engineering processes, best practices, standards, and technologies to ensure proper function of autonomous systems and enable seamless interoperability and cooperation between systems and components.
- Work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design distributed autonomous software systems spanning heterogeneous subsystems and platforms across land, air, and maritime environments.
- Document complex software systems architectures and detailed designs.
- Evaluate commercial and open-source software technologies and frameworks for use in autonomous systems design, development, and test.
- Support the development and implementation of a machine learning operations (MLOPS) pipeline for collaborative autonomy software.
- Support the development and implementation of an autonomy software pipeline that utilizes a digital engineering environment for development, test, evaluation, and over-the-air deployment.
- Plan and coordinate software system test strategies to assess and verify the systems fitness for purpose (functional operation, performance, operational effectiveness).
- Provide systems engineering support to the program for collaborative autonomous systems.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related field of study.
- Relevant experience and years of service may be considered in lieu of required education.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a bachelors degree in software engineering or a related field and at least six years of systems engineering experience. Specific qualifications include:
- Experience designing and developing software utilizing a modular and open systems architecture.
- Experience designing and developing software architectures for performance, availability, modifiability, security, testability, usability, scalability, portability, interoperability, maintainability, integrity, reliability, and safety.
- Full-stack software engineering experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining a broad range of software applications in embedded, mobile, and enterprise domains.
- Proficiency developing software applications in embedded, mobile, and enterprise domains using modern programming (e g. C/C++, Java, Python).
- Experience with configuring, tuning, developing drivers, and applications for computer operating systems.
- Experience with computer hardware and operating systems internals to include: kernel level configuration, tuning, developing drivers, and applications.
- Experience leading software development teams through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and in-depth experience with agile software development processes using modern agile frameworks.
- Experience with designing and developing distributed applications, micro-services, and ReSTful APIs in cloud and cloud-hybrid environments to promote reuse and interoperability.
- Experience developing and managing containerized software applications.
- Broad experience with both SQL and no-SQL database technologies to support the development and operation of distributed collaborative autonomy.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and able to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and implement architectural components such as distributed planning and network configuration, that enable distributed scaled autonomy
- Solicit and incorporate feedback from end users of the APIs and implementations, and collaborate with adjacent engineering teams to help make the product vision a reality
- Develop and improve our APIs for commanding and controlling teams of autonomous vehicles.
- Create and maintain APIs, SDKs, and documentation for production software
- Test and validate features through unit testing, simulation testing, and software-in-the-loop testing.
- Drive the future of the Anduril and 3rd party robot ecosystem by working on the software at the center of all interactions between the operator and the vehicles.

- Map autonomous customer use cases and ODD into specific system capabilities and functional requirements

The salary range for this position is $65,000 USD to $400,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company's compensation practices.

In this role, you will lead the integration of our autonomy software with a range of government and industry systems, ensuring interoperability, robustness, and performance across diverse operational environments. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong systems thinking, and the ability to navigate complex interface requirements with both legacy and emerging platforms.
Beyond integration, you will play a critical strategic role in shaping the future of autonomous maritime operations. By assessing current system capabilities and identifying emerging technology gaps, you will recommend and drive development of new features, frameworks, and supporting infrastructure to extend autonomy, adaptability, and decision-making at the edge. Primary Responsibilities.

- Strong proficiency in modern programming (e.g., C++, Python) and experience with middleware such as ROS, DDS, or other real-time communication frameworks
- Proven experience integrating with government, DoD, or defense industry systems and protocols; familiarity with military messaging formats and interoperability standards is a plus
- Deep understanding of autonomy frameworks, decision-making algorithms, and real-time system constraints in distributed, multi-agent environments
- Demonstrated ability to identify technical gaps and propose innovative software solutions aligned with mission requirements
- Comfortable working in both field test environments and simulation environments; experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing is advantageous
