Internal Wholesaler

  • Introduction
  • The Internal Wholesaler will serve as a critical partner to the external sales team and distribution leadership, driving advisor engagement, building pipelines, and ensuring consistent messaging around our private market solutions. This individual will combine proactive outbound activity with inbound responsiveness, acting as the first line of education and support for RIAs, broker-dealers, and other wealth management intermediaries.
Job responsibilities:

Business Development & Sales Support
  • Partner with assigned External Wholesaler(s) to achieve territory sales goals and increase assets under management (AUM).
  • Conduct proactive outbound calls, emails, and digital outreach to financial advisors to schedule meetings, webinars, and events.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline by qualifying prospects and tracking opportunities in CRM (HubSpot/Salesforce).
  • Support new advisor onboarding by walking prospects through platform access, fund mechanics, and subscription process.
Client Engagement & Education
  • Deliver product messaging and educational content around co-investments, evergreen fund structures, and private markets access.
  • Handle inbound advisor inquiries with timely, accurate, and consultative responses.
  • Coordinate territory marketing campaigns, webinars, and conference participation.
  • Ensure consistent follow-up after events, roadshows, and key account presentations.
Operational Excellence
  • Maintain clean, detailed activity and pipeline data within CRM.
  • Track advisor segmentation (AUM tiers, channel type, model portfolios) to prioritize outreach.
  • Generate weekly reports for external wholesalers and sales leadership (meetings set, pipeline movement, conversion ratios).
  • Coordinate with marketing to deploy campaigns and align messaging across channels.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in financial services sales, internal wholesaling, or client service role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume outbound activity and sustain consistent follow-up.
  • Strong knowledge of investment products; ability to learn and articulate private markets and alternatives quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills (phone, email, webinar) with professional presence and confidence.
  • High level of organization, CRM proficiency, and process orientation.
Preferred Requirements:

Responsibilities:

Increase life insurance sales and strengthen client relationships through proactive outbound calls in addition to inbound phone activity, emails and webinars. Internal wholesalers partner with a Regional Vice President (External Wholesaler) in the field and are responsible for driving activity and sales as a team. Senior Internal Wholesalers are expected to provide leadership within team through mentorship and support.

Successful employees are expected to accomplish the following:

  • 20 quality phone conversations daily. (Quality is defined as any conversation advancing the sales process that allows the internal to probe, educate, position, and/or present Equitable as the company to sell.)

  • 50-60% of your day spent on the phone. This is a proactive sales role where the internal wholesaler is a driver of results in the territory.

  • A full understanding of Asset Location vs Allocation and the ability to present the concept and tie into advisor conversations

  • Provide an exceptional customer experience with the mindset of going above and beyond with every client interaction we have

  • Ownership of a sales pipeline and a full understanding of what’s required to move things forward

  • Participate and actively engage in all sales desk campaigns and targeted marketing efforts

  • Clear and defined expectations/plan surrounding partnership with external counterpart in your territory

  • Achieve over 100% of annual sales goal

The base salary for this position is $60,000. This role is eligible for variable compensation.
