Potential to convert to FTE, If so, what rate: likely extending, possible conversion
Resource's typical working day: They will be preforming rack and stack on servers and network assets in a data center
• The Tech will need to install and test fiber and copper cabling
• They will also need to know how to terminate copper
• They will need to reboot a device and have general familiarity with how severs work
• Experience using a Fluke cable tester would be highly preferred
• Work on ladders 7-8 feet off the floor
• Install servers that can weight up to 40-50 lbs. (will use a server lift and always working in teams)
• They are occasionally asked to be on trouble shooting calls or speak to the client
• Very fast pace and busy data center environment
Years of Experience needed: Two years' working in a data center
(If they have been leading a team for several years they would not be a fit as they need someone with boots on the ground)

The Data Center Technician will support both the Physical and Virtual Infrastructure of the organization and its facilities. The Data Center Tech will drive data center best practice and relative industry standards into working processes and procedures as/where applicable.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Directly support and complete all scheduled data center MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) Hardware installation MACs, including device labeling, power connectivity and network cable connectivity Complete hardware support work orders involving: hardware and cabling MACs, certification, troubleshooting and break-fix. Asset management, auditing and daily work log/ticket tracking. Provide smart-hands assistance as required for multiple customers at various sites within specified SLA response times (on-call duties may apply) Maintain a safe and secure operating environment within the data center and report any violations to their immediate supervisor. The Data Center Technician I provides an overall focus on positive proactive end-user customer service through phone, email, face-to-face, and our internal case management systems. Maintain accurate chain-of-custody logs of incoming and outgoing customer packages and ensure facility cleanliness. As a member of the Operations Team, the Data Center Technician I will handle trouble tickets and remote hands requests from creation through resolution. Data Center Technician I will assist with the installation of a variety of circuits, including Ethernet, Sonet and Dark Fiber. Data Center Technicians monitor all business-critical systems (BMS, Security) escalating issues and guide both internal and customer compliance to our security standards.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain effective customer relationships, with customer satisfaction as the goal. Answering customer phone calls and emails within a timely and professional manner.
- Assisting with guidance on Installs, testing and close out of new Customer orders, computer/server hardware, software support while ensuring tickets/orders are resolved quickly and thoroughly within predefined intervals.
- Monitor and help troubleshoot technical issues and alarms with DataBank Infrastructure. Comfortable with following ERP and Escalating to on-call staff or engineering support staff in a fast-paced data center environment.
- Perform physical security walkthroughs, administration of security sign-in procedures for all colocation customers, visitors, third parties and escorting them to designated work location while adhering and enforcing established company security standards.
- Capture time invested on tasks and tickets/cases (customer installs, site expansions, outages, remote hands, etc) including capturing Cap Labor on timesheet and ensuring timesheets are completed and submitted on time.
- Always maintain facility cleanliness and "Tour Readiness".
- Follow DataBank Cabling Standards.
- Help maintain accurate inventory of work tools, equipment, and devices.

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous NOC/SOC/IOC experience and/or data center experience
- Some familiarity with DS1, DS3, Ethernet and dark fiber circuits
- Experience with data center infrastructure such as generators, UPS, DC Plant, HVAC, Fire suppression systems, and ability to read electrical diagrams
- 0-4 years of experience or demonstrated ability to meet the responsibilities/qualifications.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.
What You'll Do:

Assist with daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.

Ensure the site's environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.

React to Building Management System alarms, and complete emergency repairs as needed.

Work with third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with company-developed processes, procedures, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Alert management if subcontractor performance doesn't meet all requirements per the Master Service Agreement.

Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive maintenance on all equipment.

Check BMS for running and alarm conditions and respond to HVAC-related client problems.

Building walkthroughs, taking meter readings from UPS, PDU's and utilities.

Provide fixes to facility and plant faults and defects.

Complete assigned work according to established processes and procedures. Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met. Conduct routine quality checks for comprehensive maintenance records.

Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
