Job Profile
Silver Hill Hospital is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and collaborative Registered Dietitian to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a position serves both adult and adolescent patients across acute inpatient and residential levels of care. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in eating disorder treatment, intuitive eating, and Health at Every Size® (HAES) principles, and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced behavioral health setting.
Key Responsibilties
+ Provide individualized nutrition assessments, counseling, and follow-up care for patients with a variety of psychiatric and substance use disorders, with a particular focus on eating disorders.
+ Develop individualized meal plans as needed in collaboration with clinical teams, using a non-diet, HAES-informed approach.
+ Facilitate a weekly nutrition education group, with content tailored to promote normalized eating, food flexibility, and sustainable recovery practices.
+ Serve as the primary liaison between Compass Group dietary services and Silver Hill clinical staff to ensure high-quality food service delivery that aligns with therapeutic goals and patient needs.
+ Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and therapists to support interdisciplinary treatment planning.
+ Support policy development and maintenance related to food service operations, therapeutic diets, and nutrition standards of care.
+ Assist with menu review, therapeutic diet accuracy, and patient-specific dietary accommodations, including allergies, religious restrictions, and eating disorder protocols.
+ Work with adolescent and adult patients in both acute and residential settings, adjusting approach and interventions to meet developmental and clinical needs.
+ Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, families, and staff to ensure seamless coordination of nutrition services.
Qualifications
+ Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required
+ Connecticut state license (CDN) required or eligible
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical nutrition, preferably in a behavioral health or eating disorder setting
+ Strong understanding of intuitive eating, HAES, and trauma-informed care
+ Experience with eating disorder nutrition care, including meal planning and exposure-based work
+ Experience leading nutrition education groups strongly preferred
+ Excellent communication, time management, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
+ Comfortable navigating EMR systems, policy documents, and coordination between multiple teams (clinical and operational)
