JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Agricultural Sciences, Penn State Extension seeks to hire numerous individuals to fill part-time positions throughout 2020. This is a general and ongoing job posting and positions within the department will vary and are dependent upon need.
Duties will be determined based upon the specific position the candidate is chosen for and could include tasks related but not limited to: general office duties, education support, maintenance, etc.
Some positions may require a valid driver`s license in which a successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Applications will be received on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as the need arises.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Maker-in-Residence program seeks motivated undergraduate students interested in 3D printing and rapid prototyping for peer to peer consulting in the Maker Commons at the Pattee Library. Operated by Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT), the Maker Commons provides access to and training for students, faculty, and staff using 3D printers, introductory 3D modeling, 3D scanning, as well as rapid prototyping using littleBits, Arduino, Robotics, Cricut Maker, Sewing, E-textiles, and Dye Sublimation. Successful Makers-in-Residence will harvest and maintain 3D printers, provide 1-on-1 consultations for students learning to use 3D printers, demonstrate creative uses of the technology, and act as ambassadors for the use of innovative new maker technologies in education.
Makers-in-Residence should be available to work 8 - 12 hours per week, maintain order and cleanliness in the printing room, reinforce Maker Commons policies and procedures, and have a strong interest in Maker Technologies. Experience with 3D printing is not required, training on technology is provided. Weekday, evening, and weekend availability may be available. Interested students should submit a cover letter and resume including examples of their interest in technology.

Penn State Dickinson Law has an immediate opening for a half-time (20 hours/week) Counselor in the Career Services Office. The overarching mission of Dickinson Law is to produce profession-ready lawyers who are equipped with the skills and competencies necessary to excel in an increasingly global legal market. Penn State Dickinson Law operates as a single law school with locations in Carlisle, PA and University Park (State College), PA. As a unified law school, members of the Career Services team support J.D. students and alumni at both locations. The successful candidate may choose to be physically located in either Carlisle or University Park, and a hybrid work schedule may be permissible. The Counselor will report to the student-facing Assistant Dean of Career Services.
The successful candidate will have a primary focus on career counseling for students and alumni, with the objective of maximum employment for Dickinson Law students. Activities include:
- Maintaining an updated calendar with daily student counseling appointments
- Providing counseling to JD students and alumni on a variety of career-related topics, including self-assessment, career trajectory, and exploration of practice areas
- Reviewing application materials (including resumes, cover letters, and personal statements) and providing feedback to students
- Coaching students on seeking and identifying job opportunities, networking, and applying for jobs
- Conducting practice interviews and providing feedback to students
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student/alumni meeting notes in 12Twenty (career management database)
The Counselor will also be a valued member of the CSO team:
- Attending weekly team meetings
- Supporting workshops on career strategy
- Sharing information with students about a wide variety of internal and external professional development and career opportunities, including diversity programs, judicial clerkships, and specialty practice job fairs
- Collaborating on the development and compilation of resource and reference materials for student use
- Participating in the collection of employment data from current and recently graduated students for various external required compliance reporting and internal reports
Candidates must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as Microsoft 365 cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint) or other similar productivity platforms. A willingness and ability to learn new software and web-based applications, including our employment management CRM (12Twenty). Professional demeanor, project management capabilities, and the ability to work well with a diverse law student/alumni population are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated organizational skills are essential.
A master's degree is required. A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-approved law school and legal practice experience are preferred. Experience in career coaching/counseling, training, supervising, and evaluating professional development is strongly preferred.
