This role is crucial in optimizing drilling and production operations, ensuring technical integrity, and implementing innovative solutions in the field. We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of reservoir mechanics, drilling techniques, and production optimization, eager to tackle complex challenges directly at the wellsite. This position is based out of San Antonio, Texas, US , though the role will involve significant field work and travel to various drilling and production sites, offering a challenging and rewarding career path.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and optimize drilling, completion, and production operations at various field locations.
  • Analyze well performance data, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend solutions to enhance recovery and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to drilling crews, production teams, and service contractors.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations at the wellsite.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, operational summaries, and cost analyses.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and propose effective solutions to minimize downtime and maximize output.
  • Design and oversee the execution of well interventions, workovers, and stimulation treatments.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in petroleum engineering, applying them to enhance field operations.
  • Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers to integrate subsurface understanding into field operations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering.
  • 3-7 years of experience in petroleum engineering, with significant field operations exposure.
  • Strong understanding of drilling techniques, well completions, artificial lift systems, and reservoir engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software for wellbore hydraulics, production forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a practical, hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse field teams.
  • Ability to work in challenging field environments and adapt to varying schedules.

Recognizing the need of our clients, we have formulated a digital operations team at the cross section of our supply chain and operations competency and energy sector. You will be working as a part of this team and responsible for helping develop our strategy, approach, solution options and value proposition for our upstream energy clients. This is a high-profile position that will work with Energy leaders and client serving teams across many EY practices.

Your key responsibilities

As a part of this role, you will be responsible for:

Client Delivery

As Energy companies explore opportunities to optimize their operational efficiency, you will help our clients understand areas to achieve operational excellence by examining their processes and tools including emissions reporting, exploration, drilling and completions, production, HSSE, accounting, reliability and engineering and examining operational KPI's that drive costs and revenue. You will help our clients by crafting a strategy in line with their long-term goals or by implementing innovative and data driven digital solutions to drive speed to value. You will work as a part of cross competency teams within EY to bring the greatest value for our clients. You will craft and manage commercially viable engagements for EY.

Business Development

The purpose of this role is to help position EY for growth within the Oil, Gas & Chemicals operations sector in this rapidly changing market. You will help to support this capability within our digital operations team, help author thought leadership material, help develop our 'Go to Market' strategy, and develop sales collateral and solution materials to position EY in the market. You will learn about the various competencies and capabilities within EY. You will play an active role in the delivery lifecycle of engagements.

  • Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge in your functional area of supply chain. Demonstrate ability to quickly learn new processes and uncover new offering that may assist current customer base?

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in Engineering/ Business/ Technology

  • A minimum of 8 years of Operations functional experience in oil, gas and/or chemicals operations

  • Proficiency in using upstream oil and gas software and systems

  • Deepwater asset/operations experience

  • Strong knowledge of oil, gas and/or chemicals technologies, equipment, and industry standards

  • Familiar with oil, gas and/or chemicals facility operations and maintenance

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in upstream operations

  • Demonstrated results in improving the profitability of oil, gas and/or chemicals operations using digital tools

  • Strategic thinking and solutioning skills to craft a strong value proposition

  • Strong understanding of current solutions in the market and ability to craft a specific point of view for our clients

  • A keen appetite for technology and innovation while having a technology agnostic perspective

  • Strong collaboration and teaming skills

  • Curious mindset and desire to learn and grow

  • Highly seasoned project management skills and ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $148,900 to $40,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is 178,700 to 386,600. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
