About the role

A Director of Clinical Services, or Clinical Director, oversees the nursing and clinical staff and overall nursing operations of the healthcare facility. Duties include establishing goals for the clinical department and creating and enforcing compliant healthcare policies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams to deliver high-quality patient care. They will have the ability to monitor the pulse of the clinical staff to improve workflows while improving patient care, maximize efficiencies, and reduce turnover. The candidate will have a passion for the development of people, processes, and services focusing on all aspects of the clinical services of the practice. They will have a strong understanding of regulatory policies and procedures and be able to ensure compliance throughout the organization. They should identify as a Change Leader.


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) strongly preferred.
  • Licensure: Current registered nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Significant experience (5-10 years) in a private practice setting, with distinguishable prior leadership roles.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) leading, motivating and managing mid to large cohort of healthcare professionals with diverse educational backgrounds.
  • Advanced problem solving & high-level methodical decision-making at an enterprise level with proven results identifying and resolving complex challenges effectively and efficiently.
  • Financial management experience related to budget management and resource allocation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of nursing practice standards, healthcare regulations, quality improvement methodologies, and patient care principles.
  • Ability to operate computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Hire quality team members. Orient, train, supervise, and evaluate clinical staff across all departments and positions, to ensure optimal employee, patient, provider and practice experience.
  • Identify strategies to develop the clinical team despite job market limitations and execute approved strategies.
  • Oversee time and attendance of clinical staff. Monitor and manage overtime of clinical staff.
  • Mentor and coach staff to develop their clinical skills and leadership abilities and ensure a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coach, counsel, discipline, and terminate clinical staff as needed.
  • Identify clinical deficiencies, conduct regular clinical staff training, and hold meetings to address deficiencies, ensure success and promote morale.
  • Maximize certifications and licensure of clinical team members.
  • Participate in community and company career fairs to promote the organization and the clinical role.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce clinical policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care.
  • Review patient care plans, monitor patient progress, and address any concerns regarding quality of care.
  • Oversight of all clinical operations including patient care coordination, prior authorizations and resource allocation.
  • Perform routine chart audits of clinical staff documentation, address deficiencies and measure improvements.
  • Identify KPIs for clinical staff specific to each department, and measure and report findings routinely.
  • Research and recommend vendors for clinical services. Approve invoices for clinical services.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, families, staff, and leadership regarding patient status, concerns, and updates.
    • Investigate and address any patient safety incidents or complaints promptly.
  • Manage manufacturer recalls impacting clinical services.
    • Ensure OSHA, infection control and sterile processing regulations are followed and well documented in the departments. Monitor and evaluate staff assigned to these duties for consistency and completeness.
    • Assist with employee health duties as needed.
    • Oversight of Code teams.
    • Actively participate in workflow development to ensure efficiency and consistency throughout the corporation.
    • Ensure EMR workflows exceed clinical and provider expectations.
    • Oversee clinical inventory par levels and special-order requests.
    • Ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of clinical services, and implementing strategies to improve clinical services.
    • Maximize relationships with local, high schools, community colleges and universities to develop clinical partnerships. Nurture, promote and oversee student/intern engagement opportunities with these entities promoting future employment opportunities.
    • Delegate effectively.

  • Establish and promote clinical workforce delineation that is effective for a large multi-specialty healthcare corporation and includes succession planning.
  • Develop supplemental staffing department that supports all clinical areas of the corporation.

  • Work in collaboration with coding and billing teams ensuring effective documentation of services and service capture.
  • Research, evaluate and present new services and potential revenue streams to leadership.

  • Actively participate in new provider onboarding.
  • Actively participate in Advanced Practice Provider quarterly meetings.
  • Assist with provider chart audits as requested.
  • Actively participate in Compliance meetings.
  • Assist with the implementation and execution of physician peer review committee.
  • Develop and manage the clinical department budget, including staffing costs, supplies, and equipment.
  • Recommend, implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of patient care, including data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Acting point of contact for clinical inspections and audits by federal, state and local authorities.
  • Maintain adherence to all local, state, and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, administrators, managers, and ancillary departments, to coordinate practice improvement projects.

+ Must have completed one of the following: (required)Successful completion of nursing aide training program ORSuccessful passing of STNA State Tested Nurse Aide (required if OH LTC), OR CNA Certified Nurse Aide, OR Nurses Aide state testing or completed a nursing program that had one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation OR 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting
**Experience:**
+ Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility, with a preference for the setting in which they are applying (preferred, not required)

**Patient Services Representative -Urgent Care, Augusta**
**Job Summary:**
The Patient Services Representative will serve as the main point of contact for all patients and the community. This position will receive and process patient referrals, patient registration, verify demographics, obtain insurance cards and identification, and update medical records accurately and efficiently. In addition, the Patient Services Representative's responsibilities include scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options to patients, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Provides strong communication and excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
+ Process admission paperwork and basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for hospital billing systems
+ Ability to answer internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner
+ Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
+ Ensures patient flow is maintained and informs Supervisor of any department and patient issues immediately
+ Coordinates and prioritizes bed placement needs to ensure prompt and appropriate placement of patients
+ Other duties as assigned
**Education:**
+ High School Degree or GED (required)
+ Associates Degree in Healthcare or related field (preferred)
**Work Experience:**
+ Knowledge of medical billing procedures (required)
+ Medical office software experience (required)
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and basic knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding (required)
+ Prior medical office experience (preferred)
**Skills & Abilities:**
+ Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
+ Basic math skills
