We are currently looking individuals to work 2nd or 3rd shift who is ambitious, enthusiastic, and committed with the desire to work in an innovative and friendly environment. This individual will be able to run a variety of machines including various CNCs, presses, single, multi spindle and other miscellaneous machines.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Perform all functions necessary for the successful operation of assigned machines in the production of formed and/or machined products to assure efficiency and productivity in producing a high quality product.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates a variety of machines used in the manufacturing of Formed Products to include: screw machines, davenports, CNC, nose machines, PFM, presses, drill press, slotter, and thread rollers.
- Responsible for the quality of parts produced.
- Checks quality of parts visually. Also, uses micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, microscope, dial indicator gages, depth gages, plug gages, tri-roll gages, ring gages, and go/no-go gages.
- Operates Data Collection system.
- Recognizes and takes appropriate measures to assure proper processing of nonconforming product.
- Reads and refers to blueprints for parts specification.
- Notifies set-up personnel if adjustments are needed.
- Assists in on-the-job training of new machine operators.
- Fills out all required forms and reports.
- Responsible for keeping machines clean and general housekeeping of work area at end of each shift. Maintains safe working conditions and conducts oneself in such a manner as to not endanger oneself or fellow employees.
- Responsible for keeping Supervisor informed of work-related problems and the progress of work assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/SKILLS
- Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Able to lift 75 lbs., bend, stoop, climb, reach, sit and stand.
- Must be able to read, write, and count.
- Read and understand blueprints.
- Person must have good vision; can be corrected with glasses.

Position Snapshot
As a Machine Operator/Welder Trainee you learn how to operate various wire mesh and wire welder machines and work daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are working at risk lowered to ALARA specifically to achieve ZERO HARM. To be successful in this role you will:
- Practice safe work habits as an employee and with co-workers
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Adhere to mandatory PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety requirements, safety equipment, and is aware of machine safety procedures
- Conduct equipment inspections for proper operation and mechanical integrity
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of machines and facilities as needed
- Document production information on tally sheets and make basic production entries into computer systems
- Assumes duties of other operators as required and assists in other areas of the facility as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Successfully pass a 10-panel drug screen (including THC) and background check
- Must be able to work any shift during probationary period of 180-days and work overtime
- Membership to Teamsters Local Union No. 40 required
- Must have dependable transportation (attendance point system utilized)
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular and daily basis, including pulling/pushing and lifting up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis
- Standing and walking on concrete for extended periods of time
- Must understand basic mathematical skills and have knowledge of measurement processes such as length, diameter, weights, and counts, including reading a micrometer, tape measure, etc.
- Ability to complete simple forms and understand written instructions and have fundamental working knowledge of computers
- Previous manufacturing experience, including operating an overhead hoist or forklift preferred
- Trainee starting rate $23.50 per hour

Job is performed in a machine shop environment, requires lifting up to 50lbs, and requires own hand tools (screw drivers, pliers, micrometers, etc.).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Learn to remove, reset, replace, and sharpen machine tools with surface and/or pedestal grinders to maintain of production in accordance with specifications.
- Use standard dimensional inspection gages (depth, height, ring, thread, snap, micrometers, over screen charts, calipers, etc.) to check the conformance of machined components to item specifications.
- Learn to refer to in-process drawings of machined components and defect list for definition of relevant dimensional tolerances and characteristics.
- Use a basket system to insure effective sampling of the of machined components and start machines to maintain of items being produced and maintain necessary production efficiency.
- Load automatic screw machines with bar stock or previously machined components.
- Maintain fluid levels needed to insure proper machine tool, or machine lubrication as well as safe and efficient screw machine operation.
- Remove metal shavings and chips from automatic screw machines as deemed necessary to maintain safe and efficient operation.
- Use lift trucks and overhead cranes to transport materials as needed.
- Learn to perform all routine maintenance on automatic screw machines.
- Learn to set up from layouts, automatic screw machines to produce components to blueprint and dimensional tolerances from bar stock or previously machined components.
- Performs any related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION
- Machine Trade School training and five (5) years' experience operating Automatic Screw machines or four (4) years' experience as an Automatic Screw Machine Operator.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
