JOB DESCRIPTION: MACHINE OPERATOR – GRIND SHOP Reports To: Production Supervisor – Grind Shop
Direct Reports: N/A
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary
Utilize industrial grinders, precision measuring tools, and optical comparators to produce tungsten carbide rolls meeting product specifications and Company objectives.
Essential Functions
- Utilize grinding machines to manufacture tungsten carbide rolls to blueprints and work instructions.
- Select, dress, and mount grinding wheel according to specification using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
- Monitor machine operations and operate more than one machine, as needed.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring devices, ensuring that surfaces and measurements meet specifications.
- Read blueprints and utilize hand tools.
- Abide by safety policies and procedures to ensure safe work practices.
- Communicate with coworkers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all Company regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Production Supervisor, Operations Manager, and/or President & CEO.
- Familiarity with machine tools and equipment such as forklift, cranes, and lifting devices
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Available to work rotating shifts
- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- Minimum of one-year experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment.
This role requires standing for the majority of each shift; however, the employee may occasionally sit, climb, kneel, stoop and/or crouch as necessary. Must be able to safely lift up to 50 pounds infrequently, as required.
