Responsibilities

- Set-up and operate all department machinery.

- Adjust controls, tension, etc. to ensure proper operation of equipment and that the established quality procedures and methods are followed.

- Perform basic maintenance and repairs to equipment as needed.

Qualifications

- 2 -3 years machine set-up experience in the printing industry is required.

- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and communicate effectively with team members.

- High school diploma/equivalent preferred.

Machine Operator - Hiring Immediately at Quad summary:

Operates printing and finishing machines by removing products, stacking pallets, and handling materials using forklifts or hand jacks. Ensures compliance with safety and quality standards while assisting team members and performing various production-related tasks. Requires mechanical aptitude, ability to follow instructions, handle physical tasks, and work rotating shifts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Position Overview:

• Remove product from the end of the printing press or finishing machine.
• Work with loose and/or completed product by stacking onto pallets, transferring to tables & placing into a collator hopper or into mail bags.
• Move product/skids with a hand jack, motorized Raymond (Big Joe) lift or Forklift (training provided).
• Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations.
• Effectively communicate with team members.
• Assist other crew members with various duties including webbing up of the press and/or special handwork in order to meet customer requests.
• Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18-years of age or older.
• Printing, factory, or other mechanical work experience a plus
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to write and read measurements.
• Ability to read, understand and follow both written and verbal instructions.
• The ability to use a computer/manipulate touch screens.
• The ability to use repetitive hand/wrist movement.
• Ability to lift stacks of end boards or banding strap rolls (~30 -60lbs) as needed.
• The ability to take stacks of loose signatures or bundles ranging (5-30 lbs.) off a pallet or conveyor up to 48” in height and transfer to tabletop work surface 42”, and then place into a collator hopper or mail bags that potentially weigh from 5-75 lbs.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize job need.
• Ability to be a team player in a fast paced, detail orientated production environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• 12 hour rotating shifts (either 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. - 7 a.m.) including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, working 3 - 4 days a week.

Hours

• First Shift: Mon- Thurs | 5am - 3pm

• Second Shift: Mon-Thurs | 3pm - 1am

• ***some mandatory OT on all shifts could be required at supervisor discretion

Wage:

• Starting wages range from 19- 21/hour and are based on experience

Job Overview:

• Operators load converting bag machines with roll stock of film (plastic). The operator sets up the machines to the customer's specification and the converting bag machine forms the bag or the pouch. Operators are responsible for efficiently operating the converting bag machine, including but not limited to: machine setup, bag production, handling finished product, quality control and reporting while adhering to safety guidelines.

Requirements:

• Able to regularly lift 10-15lbs and occasionally 50lbs of product

• Great attitude and attendance is a must!

• Mechanical reasoning skills

• Ability to do machine set-ups, calibrations, etc. or a willingness to learn

• Ability to read a tape measure and record measurements

• Good communication skills

• Ability to work in a high speed, manufacturing environment

• (Manufacturing experience preferred)

Summary: Responsible for setting up and operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to produce precision components that meet quality and production requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Interprets component drawings, studies sample parts, blueprints and engineering information to determine product dimensions and tolerances, sequence of operations and setup requirements to fabricate product.
• Determines tooling requirements by selecting the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
• Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines; lays out, measures, and marks material for subsequent machining.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
• Effectively operates a variety of other machining equipment including manual machines, Wire EDM and Sinker EDM.
• Accurately completes production and quality documents.
• Performs basic machine tool troubleshooting by utilizing and interpreting operator/maintenance manuals; cleans and lubricates machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Strives to improve productivity, reduce scrap and material waste in an efficient and organized manner.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Performs other production assignments as necessary.
• Maintains a professional working relationship and effectively communicates with all employees, managers, vendors, customers and regulatory agencies.
• Understands and complies with company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and safety regulations.
