**DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION**
The Edward Thomas House Medical Respite is a unique medical respite harm reduction program that provides shelter care with embedded nursing, mental health, and case management services to an at-risk homeless population. Medical Respite is a part of the Healthcare for the Homeless Network and is supported by funds from multiple sources including King County Public Health, MIDD, and local hospitals. The Edward Thomas House admits patients referred from all King County area hospitals 7 days a week and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The program is operated by Harborview Medical Center (HMC) at an off-site location next to the Harborview emergency department.
**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Contribute to and document initial and ongoing bio-psychosocial patient evaluations and assessments
+ Develop patient care plan with interdisciplinary team
+ Facilitate therapeutic sessions and patient/family conferences
+ Deescalate potentially dangerous situations and promote stability on unit
+ Recognize and communicate observations related to effects and side effects of medications and signs of substance intoxication or withdrawal to RNs
+ Communicate with providers, authorities, and others for patients' continued care, may include referral to Emergency Room
**REQUIREMENTS**

Provide age appropriate coaching and supervision to patients and families hospitalized on the Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (PBMU). The PMHS's work is directed by Nursing Leaders or designee. Incumbents are required to work with complex and acute psychiatric patients and be comfortable in dealing with stressful and quickly changing environments. This includes initiating appropriate interventions that promote a healthy and safe environment for patients, families and staff.
**We are looking for Pediatric Mental Health Specialists to work in our Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Unit (PBMU)!**
The Pediatric Mental Health Specialist position provides the opportunity to grow your career in the mental and behavioral health field by learning de-escalation skills and techniques, gaining an understanding of behaviors, building rapport, and problem solving. We refer to our PMHSs as "coaches" because they have the opportunity to coach patients in various capacities. The PMHSs work directly with patients and help lead them through a series of scheduled activities including skills groups. The skills groups promote new and healthy problem solving skills as well as social and coping skills that are developmentally appropriate for each age group.
The PBMU is an inpatient crisis stabilization unit where we treat children ages 3-17 who are in psychiatric crisis. Our 41 bed unit is split into three programs: Child, Adolescent, and the Biobehavioral Inpatient Program.
These positions require working a mix of day/evening shifts as well as Saturdays/Sundays. A part-time employee works a 0.9 FTE (72 hours per bi-weekly pay periods).
**Required Education and Experience**
BA or BS in psychosocial related field and/or equivalent education and direct experience
**Required Credentials**
Registration as a Nursing Assistant in Washington State within 6 months of employment.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Safety Care certification (internal training) required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
Ukeru training required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
**Preferred**
Experience working with children or adolescents in group settings.
Preferred candidates will have bilingual skills.
**Compensation Range**
$26.51 - $39.76 per hour

**JOB DEFINITION:**
In conjunction with the HOST Project Manager and Senior Program Manager, the HOST Mental Health Clinical Supervisor specifically oversees the acceptance and assignment/facilitation of referrals to the HOST program. In conjunction with the HOST Project Manager, this position oversees all aspects of outreach and engagement, short-term case management services, as well as contractual obligations. HOST Supervisors collaborate internally and externally to promote continuity of care for our clients. The supervisors are expected to coordinate with internal outpatient teams, such as SAGE, and other PHP providers to assure successful transition of consumers to on-going care. The HOST Clinical Supervisors will have education and experience as a Mental Health Professional.
**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Assist HOST Project Manager in planning, implementation and coordination of all HOST services and other relevant services at the agency.
+ Assist in Screening/assessing referrals to HOST Program for eligibility and provide coordination of other HOST staff involved in screening and initial engagement effort.
+ Coordinate and participate in psychiatric consultations, clinical supervision meetings, program meetings, and in-service training of mental health program staff; participate in clinical reviews and case conferences.
+ Assess staff members supervised for strengths and training needs. Provide regular supervision, clinical consultation, performance feedback, support and assurance of needed training for staff.
+ Facilitate team meetings in a manner, which promotes team members contributing in their areas of strength and learning as needed. Develop team cohesion, which effectively serves the clientele and provides the needed support for team members to effectively perform their job.
+ Coordinate and schedule for all aspects of HOST services, including scheduling of individual team members and coverage of offices as needed; review and authorize staff time sheets; submit on time to payroll department.
+ Guide and participate in appropriate delivery of screening/assessment activities to assure resources are used for the target population.
+ Review team clinical documentation to assure that team members maintain current and complete clinical records, and that records comply with the agency, state, and county clinical accountability policies and procedures.
+ Provide individual supervision/consultation for assigned team members.
+ In cooperation with agency management and HOST staff, establish and maintain cooperative relationships with a broad spectrum of human service organizations that provide resources needed by mental health consumers.
+ Provide clinical outreach & case management services to a partial caseload.
+ Become and stay aware of related contractual and working agreements; assure supervised staff awareness of same.
+ Collaborate with non-mental health DESC staff to ensure continuity of care for consumers using other DESC services.
+ Assist Clinical Programs Entry Services Manager in coordination of services and activities, which span the mental health department and other DESC programs.
+ Assure the gathering of accurate service and other program data; assist with report writing in compliance with HOST/PATH/City of Seattle contracts.
**OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Comply with all agency policies and procedures, relevant Washington Administrative Code, and King County Mental Health Division policies and procedures.
+ Attend and participate in relevant team meetings, agency-sponsored trainings and all-staff meetings.
+ Participate as an on-going member of clinical program committees as assigned.
+ Participate in program evaluation activities.

**LIVING CONDITIONS:**
All DESC clinical leaders are responsible for ensuring that their teams support their clients to achieve and maintain healthy living conditions as applicable. This may include participating in unit cleaning when the need arises.
Requirements
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Eligible for a Licensed AAC credential or any other superseding credential that meets RCW requirements to act as a Mental Health Professional whose scope of practice includes independently conducting mental health assessments and making mental health diagnoses.
+ Master's degree in a social work, psychology or other relevant behavioral science or Bachelor of Nursing degree with specialty in mental health.
+ One or more years' experience in community based behavioral health services.
+ Ability to drive an agency or personal vehicle to conduct agency related business. A current Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record are required.
+ Experience working with adults experiencing homelessness, mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
+ Strong collaboration and problem solving skills.

Services at the clinics include pediatric medical care, behavioral health, dental services, nutrition, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and more. **Required Education and Experience**
