Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Lab Technician to join our growing organization. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced laboratory environment, demonstrate strong prioritization skills, and communicate effectively across multiple departments.
Position Summary:
The Quality Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine analyses of materials and blends used in finished products, while ensuring standard operating procedures and quality standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine analyses on incoming chemicals, materials, blends, and finished products.
- Follow standard operating procedures and controlled documents as outlined by the Quality Manual.
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and analyze line/tank flushes.
- Coordinate testing to ensure timely flow of production.
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis and obtain re-samples as needed.
- Enter and manage test data in computer systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Comply with safety procedures and protocols.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional departments.
- Perform other laboratory duties as assigned.

**Job Description**
As a 1st Shift Quality Control Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the quality of production by conducting line inspections and eliminating in-process scrap. You will educate operators and set-up technicians on basic inspection tools and knowledge to ensure the highest standards of quality are met.
**Responsibilities**
+ Review data and revisions on job sheets, prints, and variable sheets.
+ Compare new and previous 1st Articles to verify data.
+ Perform 1st Article Inspections.
+ Check 1-3 parts at random machines in manufacturing departments for finish, pin measurement, OD/ID, root size, runout, and length of cut.
+ Perform in-process inspections.
+ Work flexibly across multiple departments as needed.
+ Assist with blank inspection from internal blanking and blank suppliers when necessary.
**Essential Skills**
+ Proficiency in quality control, micrometers, calipers, and quality assurance.
+ Ability to operate vari-roll testing fixtures and use optical comparators.
+ Proficient in GD&T skills and blueprint reading.
+ Strong skills with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
+ Effective communication skills for training others.
+ Basic math and geometry skills.
+ Basic materials knowledge.
+ Ability to create tooth/space alignment layouts.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Gear knowledge is preferred.
+ Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
**Work Environment**
You will work in a family-oriented company that has been family-owned for three generations. The facility maintains a comfortable temperature of 72 degrees year-round. Collaborations with prominent organizations like NASA, Space X, and Caterpillar reflect the innovative and dynamic environment. The company employs 110 people across both 1st and 3rd shifts. The work hours for 1st shift are from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, while the 3rd shift operates from 10 PM to 6 AM, Sunday through Thursday, with a 15% shift premium. The physical demands include the ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds and occasional reaching and walking. Frequent standing is required, with normal breaks provided.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roscoe, Illinois.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00/hr.
