Job Description
The ATC is the research lab for LM Space, and the SS&I directorate within the ATC pursues fundamental space science research and the development of prototype flight instruments and payloads. The successful candidate will play a key scientific and/or technical role and will grow into a leadership role in Heliophysics Science as part of these teams.
Duties include support for design, integration and test of optical instruments (especially for EUV/UV imaging and spectroscopy, including MUSE); verification of optical performance, including calibration; test and verification of image stabilization systems; analysis of system performance, including effects of spacecraft charging, jitter, etc.; planning and conducting environmental and functional testing on instruments and payloads; and support for mission operations including science planning and analysis, data processing and calibration, and monitoring of calibration data/quality. The Research Scientist is also encouraged to conduct supporting research and/or to seek external funding to pursue research commensurate with their training and expertise.
**Basic Qualifications:**
- PhD degree in Heliophysics or related science/engineering discipline, preferably with application relevant to Heliophysics Science Focus areas.
- Demonstrated technical experience and the ability and willingness to work in technical teams.
- Experience with the execution of space science research programs.
- US citizenship or Green Card holder.
**Desired Skills:**
- Emerging leader in the Heliophysics Science technical professional community, based on publications, academic interfaces, and professional contacts, capable of being a Principal Investigator of Co-Investigator on NASA science contracts and/or missions.
- Experience with solar spectrographs, imagers, or analogous instrumentation. Design experience with and mission architectural knowledge of UV and EUV optical instruments.
- Mission experience and good technical familiarity with multiple heliophysics instrumentation or deep familiarity in one such technology demonstrated by publications, on-orbit instruments, and selected missions.

About the role:
The Coast Survey Development Laboratory (CSDL), Coastal Marine Modeling Branch (CMMB), within OCS, is responsible for developing and maintaining national-scale, state-of-the-art, high-precision ocean models and for building an infrastructure for the nation's navigation community to access and readily use NOAA model results and data. Within CDSL, coastal inundation modeling is being performed by CSDL to support the development of new products and services for NOAA's storm surge enterprise.
@Orchard is looking for experienced Scientists to join the Storm Surge Modeling Team, to conduct modeling and analysis of hydrodynamic phenomena that contribute to coastal inundation (e.g., storm surge, tides, waves, river inflow).
Your responsibilities will include:
• Collaborate with CSDL personnel to develop and program coastal inundation models.
• Assist with performing analysis and evaluation of model outputs to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Provide related technical support to enhance modeling capabilities and address identified application needs and issues.
• Test and evaluate model functionality for Unified Forecast System coupling and capabilities.

Your background will likely include:
• Education :
o PhD or Master's degree in coastal ocean science, numerical modeling, marine science, or related field. (education equivalency: 6 years' work experience)

o Experience working in a Linux environment.
o Experience working in a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment.
o Proficient in programming techniques, with expertise in at least one language such as Fortran, MATLAB, Python, or related languages.
o Working knowledge of code sharing tools such as GitHub.
o Experience with ocean models such as SCHISM, ADCIRC, Finite Volume Community Ocean Model (FVCOM), and Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) is a significant plus.

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesks competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $199,900 and $323,400. Offers are based on the candidates experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.Equal Employment Opportunity

We are looking for an advanced physicist to join our team to train AI models. You will measure the progress of these AI chatbots, evaluate their logic, and solve problems to improve the quality of each model.
In this role you will need to hold an expert understanding of physics- a completed or in progress Masters/PhD is preferred but not required. Other related fields include, but are not limited to: Astrophysics, Biophysics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics.
