POSITION SUMMARY
Under the Supervision or direction of a Shift Manager, performs various duties assisting the nursing staff in the treatment and care of patients of all ages, in accordance with the established methods and procedures of the hospital.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED and Completion of PCA II workshop and skills OR Graduate of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nurse Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Student nurse in eighth month of an LVN program or last year of an RN program. Minimum Work Experience None
Required Licenses/Certifications: None
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: General knowledge of basic bedside nursing. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on the physical, psychosocial, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to age of the patients served in assigned area/department. The skills and knowledge to provide such care is gained
through education, training, and/or experience.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct.
3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
6. Perform routine tasks under the supervision of license nurse.
7. Empty bedpans and change dirty linens.
8. Follow proper procedures for lifting and moving patients.
9. Maintain glucometer competency.
10. Maintain sterile technique during sterile procedures.
11. Refers to policies and procedures when appropriate.
12. Reports observation of change in patients' condition promptly and accurately to caregiver or shift manager.
13. Assists caregivers in performing routine elements of patient care and patients of all ages.
14. Performs daily assigned duties, i.e., linen, water, dirty utility room, routine workstation clearing, etc. in timely manner.
15. Schedules and completes tasks with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
16. Is adaptable and responsive to change (including floor assignments).
17. Knows and follows chain of command and maintains confidentiality of information.

Work hours: Full Time, 36 hours weekly, Nights 7pm-7am with rotating weekends.
Training: Must be able to attend training at the corporate office in Arlington Monday-Friday 8am-5pm during the first week of hire
Med Surg Department Highlights:

Here's What You Need:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required
+ 1 year of experience as a PCT preferred
+ PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire is required upon hire or
+ EMT - Emergency Medical Technician - Military experience with medical training equivalent (equivalent to EMT-B) required upon hire or
+ Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program required upon hire or
+ 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification required upon hire andBCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
+ CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training required within 90days of hire and maintained annually
+ Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
+ Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
+ After hire PCT CNA renewal is not a requirement of the role if the PCT has consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
