Job Overview:

The Plant Engineer is a critical role in connecting field operations with the maintenance organization, helping minimize downtime and failure rates and maximize equipment productivity.  To execute, position obtains and develops resources, and 3rd party contractors. Identify, assess, and minimize technical risks through successful project tasks delivery. Objective is to drive projects to successful completion, resulting in highly satisfied customers and product solutions which support the business growth objectives. The Facilities Engineer enhances service quality and equipment reliability by improving workflows and optimizing maintenance processes using Lean Six Sigma practices and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology. This position, a key link the site, provides input to improve equipment design, reliability, and maintainability.

Responsibilities :

  • Keep current with latest equipment, technologies, and maintenance methods.
  • Identify and captures opportunities for improvement in equipment maintainability and reliability.
  • Support Maintenance and Operations Managers in planning for equipment and maintenance resources and correcting existing discrepancies utilizing TPM methodologies.
  • Oversee work, set or edit standards, policies and procedures for vendors and contractors
  • Manage financial aspects including annual budget development, capital planning and administration. -
  • Participate in technical audits and compliance assessments, and follows up on closure of remedial action plans
  • Assist with development and coaching of staff.
  • Ensures application of asset management and maintenance systems data and accurate, timely data entry and reporting.
  • Establish clear ownership for project tasks within the team and a clear schedule for when each task will be performed. Ensure that team members have the tools needed and provide timely feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with peer Engineering managers within the company to drive network initiatives, balance resource demands, and coordinate global team interaction.
  • Use Lean Six Sigma and RCM concepts to optimize work processes, adapt maintenance tools and procedures to improve equipment utilization and reliability, and minimize service quality incidents.
  • Leads the preventative maintenance pillar within TPM
  • On-call availability to respond to all facility emergencies
    Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
  • Conduct regular status meetings with all stakeholders, keeping the stakeholder’s needs and requirements continuously in view.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of bottling/can manufacturing. Demonstrated supervisory, organizational and interpersonal ability. Ability to problem solve and multitask. Basic understanding of labor and federal regulations. SAP manufacturing applications and strong computer skills. Strong communication and leadership skills. Demonstrated understanding and proven implementation of TPM/5S. Aptitude for hands-on work coupled with analytical skills. Ability to solve problems via advanced technical knowledge, complex analysis and theory testing. A record of success in implementing lean manufacturing concepts for continuous improvement (TPM/5S). Experience with spending most of the time on the manufacturing floor. 


Total Rewards:
  • Salary Range: $91,300 - $135,000
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or 10+ years of experience in bottling industry
  • 5 years of production/maintenance leadership experience as a production manager or line supervisor required
  • 5 years of engineering or team management experience preferred
  • 5 years of experience working with electrical, electronic, automation and mechanical maintenance in the bottling industry strongly preferred
  • Must be open to overtime and weekends as needed. Must be flexible to work on other shifts as business needs as well as over the standard 40-hour work week

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic checks on PLC's and instrumentation

  • Ability to train maintenance technicians on control systems

  • Ability to create, Evaluate and implement technical notes, SOPs, preventive/predictive maintenance programs on A.C. and D.C. motors, drives and other electrical equipment.

  • Transferring drive parameters for AC or DC motor drive replacement

  • Ability to manage force/jumper logs including follow up actions to the logs

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Proficiency with reliability block diagrams, system reliability assessments, and component reliability prediction.

Chemours is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join our growing Manufacturing Technology team. This position will be available at the Washington Works site in Parkersburg, WV and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager

Engineers in this role will be expected to deliver improvements in reliability and preventative maintenance that deliver cost and capacity improvements to their assigned business. This role will require data analysis, Root Cause Analysis, troubleshooting, developing repair plans and improvement strategies. This role will involve individual activities and working as part of a team with other Engineers, Mechanics, Operators & project teams.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leading the development of asset management plans and preventive/predictive maintenance programs.

  • Providing mechanical engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades, and ownership of improvements.

  • Ensuring maintenance and reliability work management processes are effectively implemented, utilized, and improved.

  • Leading & participating on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) teams related to Reliability & Safety events.

  • Identify failure modes and effects based on equipment type, materials of construction, and operating conditions.

  • Leading Area teams through quarterly reviews of Reliability Performance including corrective action development.

  • Identify critical spares required to deliver the level of reliability required.

  • Initiate management of change (MOC) documents as needed to make improvements in the production area.

  • Participate in the Design for Reliability, Maintenance, and Inspection process (D4RMI) for new equipment including capital projects, as assigned.

  • Lead or participate in site programs, such as vibration monitoring, lubrication analysis, thermography, etc., as assigned.

The following is required for this role:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform as an individual contributor.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills.

  • Root Cause Analysis experience.

  • Ability to Troubleshoot.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineering in a manufacturing environment.

  • Professional Reliability Certification, ex. CRE, CRP, CRL, SMRP.

  • Strong working knowledge of SAP-PM, SAP-MM & Maintenance Work Management Systems.

  • Familiar with or certification in national standards such as API 510, API 570 & API 653.

  • Exposure to Process Safety Management methodologies.

  • Experience in a High Hazard Process environment.

  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.

As a Reliability Engineer, you will support the factory in enabling and delivering asset maintenance in accordance with the Nestle Strategy. You will utilize Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) as a multi-disciplined approach to enhance and improve fixed assets, while managing their life cycle through Asset Management Methodology (AMM). Your goal will be to achieve sustainable, long-term low production costs and high reliability, rather than focusing solely on the immediate correction of daily losses. In this role, you will partner with the factories to foster a culture of "Continuous Improvement and Zero Loss" in maintenance, aligned with the principles of Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE). You will actively champion Nestle's NCE programs and provide support and coaching within the factory to eliminate losses, manage risks, and implement life cycle asset management (LCAM). Additionally, you will assist in master planning and skill development to transition to and sustain a proactive, planned maintenance program.

Responsibilities

  • Define, propose, and monitor the Maintenance and Reliability plans and objectives in accordance with Engineering Policy, Key Principles, and the M&I Activity as outlines in the Nestle Engineering Excellence (NEE) master document. Validate results achieved in the program.
  • Monitor plant/equipment trends to ensure best possible operation and reduction of planned/unplanned downtime.
  • Propose and monitor key performance indicators in accordance with the Best Maintenance Practices.
  • Lead the factory to reduce technical stoppages in equipment or areas of common occurrence (priority given to areas of highest incidence or impact). Ensure the systematic review of all line, processes, and utilities that are critical to the business and those where failure can have an unacceptable impact on safety, personnel safety, food safety, environment, or compliance with the law.
  • Develop capability in and be able to coach and guide the use on the floor of Maintenance Continuous Improvement Tools such as BDA, X-Matrix, AMM, SAM, Tags,etc
  • Insure the implementation of all repairs/modifications resulting from Gap assessments, plant audits, and notifications and loss improvement activities
  • Master the use of AMM to manage the technical stores, scheduled Work Orders, labor hour allocation, equipment Bill of Material (BOM), system reporting and data analysis, including coaching of users and development of capability.
  • Ensure that the job planning, material and services planning process is appropriate, accurate and effective.
  • Ensure that the equipment history, damage code and root cause analysis are completed correctly and analyzed regularly for trends.
  • Update/Optimize Reliability Engineering tools and guidelines, to minimize unplanned and Planned Downtime, ensure a common approach, administration, and training
  • Utilize external suppliers, experts, other factories and corporate team to ensure proper technical solutions are defined and implemented to eliminate root causes.
  • Support implementation and sustainability of TPM-PM Pillar in the factory.
  • Analyze the factory M&R budget, drive value-added and sustainable improvements with the assistance of the Maintenance Engineer and Factory Engineer, as well as Corporate Engineering.

Qualifications

(BA/BS) in Engineering (Maintenance & Reliability, Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical or equivalent) strongly preferred or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of related work experience.
