Summary/Objective

The Retail Store Clerk is responsible for assisting customers with their sales transaction(s) and also assists in operating store.

Essential Functions

  1. Stock shelves, counters or displays with merchandise.
  2. Set up advertising displays or arrange merchandise on shelves, counters, or displays to promote sales.
  3. Appropriately price tag merchandise.
  4. Obtain merchandise requested by customer or receive merchandise selected by customer.
  5. Answer customer questions concerning location, price and ingredients of merchandise.
  6. Provide the total price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine amount due.
  7. Accept payment and prepare cash change. Wrap or bag merchandise for customers.
  8. Remove and record amount of cash in register at end of shift.
  9. Calculate sales discounts to determine price.
  10. Keep record of sales, prepare inventory of stock and order merchandise.
  11. Keep the retail store clean and presentable.
  12. Assists in restocking and packing of products.
  13. Work in unison with other team members to actively promote a team atmosphere.
