**Job Summary**
Demonstrates expert knowledge in the field of exercise science and fitness, for all populations taking into account previous injuries/limitations, chronic/acute disease and a special population diagnosis. Assists with fitness assessments and fitness-related education programs. Participates in planning and implementing individual/group exercise programs. Oversees the training floors to ensure safety and efficiency. Participates in health condition assessments. Administers fitness testing procedures and interprets test results for individuals. Coordinates the development of exercise/fitness programs for low, medium and high-risk populations. Maintains fitness equipment. Possesses thorough knowledge of human physiology and the ability to prescribe exercise according to accepted guidelines. Performs physiologic assessments including body fat analysis, blood pressure and strength assessments.
Teaches additional fitness classes when needed. Develops and instructs one on one sessions, small group training sessions and specialized training classes. Instructs participants in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines. Teaches proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion. Offers modifications during fitness classes and private training sessions in order to accommodate to different levels of fitness. Promotes Wellness Center memberships and strives to maintain member retention through communication and knowledge.
Consistently meets with Sanford Hospital patients through medical referrals to design programs based on reason for referral, limitations, health history and goals. Continues communication with patient through their trial membership and continuing into a Wellness Center membership.
Supervises on the floor addressing responsibilities such as maintaining fitness equipment and locker rooms as needed. Ensures the overall environment is safe, clean and presentable. Is able to deal with situations as it relates to gym etiquette (age requirements for equipment, members respecting each other and equipment, medical emergencies and various situations that may come up.
Able to represent Sanford Hospital values during fitness/wellness talks for the hospital and the community. At times, will be responding to media opportunities (TV, radio, social media, etc.).
**Qualifications**
Bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise science, corporate fitness or a related field of study is required. In lieu of bachelor's degree, will accept a national accreditation in personal training.
Must have an understanding of the physiological basis of exercise and ability to program and instruct with a variety of populations. Experience in behavior modification and wellness coaching preferred.
Thorough knowledge and experience in Microsoft applications, basic computer skills, and exercise program design is required. Experience with computer-based scheduling is preferred.
Depending on facility needs and services offered, may require personal training certification. Acceptance of any national accredited personal training certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 60 days of hire.
Additionally, may be required to obtain and subsequently maintain specific competencies and certifications based on facility needs.
Sanford Sports Wellness Center Sioux Falls: A personal training certification from a national accredited organization is required. If not held on the date of hire, a national accredited personal training certification is required within 1 year.

**Job Summary**
The Cardiac Technician conducts a wide range of non-invasive cardiac tests, under direct supervision, for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Performs cardiac tests and monitors patient heart functions using diverse cardiology equipment. As needed per department, employees place electrodes correctly for an electrocardiogram (EKG) machine or telemetry (holter) monitoring and operate machines correctly. Checks, calibrates, and maintains cardiology equipment to ensure proper operation and accurate test results. Provides care and counseling for cardiac patients to ensure their comfort and safety during cardiac tests and treatments. Alerts nurses or physicians of critical values, abnormalities, or changes in patient responses. Obtains and records patient information and medical histories; interprets electrocardiogram (EKG) results and generates factual written reports. In some departments, employees will monitor multiple patients at the same time while critically interpreting rhythms and communicating concerns effectively with staff.
**Qualifications**
High school diploma or its equivalent is required.
Knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology. Working knowledge of basic and intermediate life threatening cardiac rhythms, special equipment used in cardiac testing, computers, and medical terminology.
Must meet a minimum of one of the following criteria dependent on facility or department requirements needs as it may vary by needs:
1. Possess Certified Cardiographic Technician
2. Associate's degree or higher in a health science field
3. Three years' experience as a cardiac technician
4. Obtain Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) or Cardiac Rhythm Monitoring certification (CRAT) within one year into position. The department will determine which certification is appropriate per the department workflows.

**A Brief Overview**
Serves as a member of the provider's Care Team in coordinating the flow of patients through assisting provider with various responsibilities as requested, managing supplies and equipment, fielding and triaging phone call, and other front office tasks.
**What you will do**
+ Rooms patients, takes vitals, prepares patient for physician, assists physician when needed. Accurately completes documentation for charts.
+ Maintains and views patient records, charts, and other pertinent information to include, but not be limited to, reviews all lab, hospital and other reports, and posts in the electronic medical record as necessary. Prepares result letters for patients as directed by physician.
+ Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Maintains and cares for all equipment in a responsible manner. Reports any repairs as needed.
+ Assists the provider and nurse scheduling of tests and procedures and with other support duties as time allows, including but not limited to: making copies, opening mail, completion of disabilities forms, death certificates, completing DME forms, and fax items as requested.
+ Requests charts as needed for telephone calls and as provider requests.
+ Accurately and efficiently checks in patients following applicable policies and procedures. Answers billing questions.
+ Answers multiple line telephone and routes calls promptly. Alerts appropriate personnel to urgent messages/issues that require immediate attention.
+ Maintains computer appointment scheduling and follows office scheduling policies/parameters. Responsible for changing scheduling templates when needed.
+ Assists non-ambulatory patients to lab and x-ray as needed.
+ Appropriately obtains referral from insurance, documentation of the referral and communicates the information to the patient, physician, and/or patient's family as necessary.

**Job Summary**
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basic patient care services and supports activities within ambulatory services. Patient Care Technicians are multi-skilled to provide expanded services under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, color vision screening, drug screens, point of care urinalysis and reception/clerical tasks. Patient Care Technicians have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient care and cultural diversity, relating to the physical and psychological needs of patients from adolescence through geriatrics. Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy. Work patient registries and identify opportunities to improve patient care. Must be self-motivated, independent and able to work well with team members. Must be able to work amidst multiple distractions while maintaining excellent interpersonal skills.
**Qualifications**
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
Minimum of six months' experience preferred. Experience in a clinic setting preferred. Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nursing Assistant (NA) through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment.
