About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Patient Care Tech to join our team and help us continue delivering the level of care our patients and families deserve. The patient care technician (PCT) performs a variety of technical functions which contribute to the safety, care and comfort of patients and their families. Saratoga Hospital Medical Group - Plastic Surgery seeks a compassionate and experienced Physician Assistant to join our team. We are interested in a full-time applicant to join an experienced Plastic Surgeon in our expanding, recently-opened practice, located in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Our Physician Assistants are an integral part of our health care team and in this role will rotate between inpatient and outpatient medicine. This provider can expect approximately three outpatient clinic days per week. When in hospital (Saratoga Hospital), this individual will act as a Surgical Assistant as well as perform inpatient consults and provide follow up care as needed. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to collaborate well with other members of the healthcare team. In the practice, you will work with colleagues from many different internal specialists as well as other referring physicians within our community. The preferred candidate would also come with 1-3 years of surgical experience.
Hours for this position are expected to be: 8:00 - 4:30, Monday - Friday. Some weekends may be required.
Call responsibility for this position will include sharing of call with surgeon: frequency to be determined and mutually agreed upon. The office is conveniently located at 3050 NYS Route 50, Saratoga Springs, NY sharing a suite with other specialty practices including ENT, Allergy, Eye Care and Pain management.
The Physician Assistant serves as an additional patient care provider, augmenting and extending patient services provided by the health care team. The PA will work closely with members of the team and have a reasonable amount of autonomy in the care and medical decision-making for patients. A few highlights of responsibilities:
• Obtains, documents and updates medical history. Identifies health risks and needs. Performs physical examinations and conducts preventive screening procedures based on age and history. Formulates a differential diagnosis and plan of care based on history, physical examination, and clinical findings. Identifies needs of the individual, family, or community. • Orders and review diagnostic tests. Identifies, prescribes, and manage pharmacological therapies. • Determines effectiveness of the plan of care through documentation of patient care outcomes. • Reassesses and modifies plan of care as necessary to achieve medical and health goals. • Makes referrals to other health professionals and community agencies. Admits/discharges to appropriate service. • Participates in team meetings and conferences to enhance an interdisciplinary approach to health care delivery. • Serves on departmental and multidisciplinary committees, which influence or determine policies affecting advanced practice providers. • Participates in and develops projects and quality improvement programs, as well as standards of care and practice. • Maintains current level of knowledge relative to professional practice. • Maintains all required professional documentation, such as license, certifications, infection control, ACLS/BLS, DEA as well as system requirements. • Acts as resource to staff and implements educational programs, as needed.
Qualifications:
Experience in surgical assisting is required. A license to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State will be required to successfully be credentialed.
