  • Provide appropriate supervision at all times to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of program participants.

  • Be an agent of safety for campers. This includes taking responsibility for one’s well-being and the well-being of others.

  • Keep the immediate supervisor informed daily of any concerns regarding participants, staff, or the facility.

  • Engage participants in meaningful activities, lesson plans, and special events that are structured, age-appropriate, fun, exciting, and challenging and based on values in the areas of arts, STEM, character development, literacy, creative expression, community service, physical fitness, and/or nutrition.

  • Prepare the learning environment and necessary supplies for program activities. Assume responsibility for the cleanliness and organization of the camp room, program supplies, and activity space.

  • Support the planning and implementation of all activities, including but not limited to learning initiatives, field trips, and culminating performances.

  • Provide support to Activity Specialists with activity implementation.

  • Create and maintain a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.

  • Serve as a positive role model for participants.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication about their child’s strengths and areas of growth. Take a leadership role in providing regular updates to caregivers.

  • Attend all required training sessions. Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.

  • Ensure that groups are in ratio.

Job Summary
The Director of Service Learning at Sacred Heart Greenwich plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of compassion, leadership, and social responsibility among students. This 12-month position involves designing, implementing, and overseeing service-learning and community outreach initiatives across all grade levels, empowering students to engage with local, national, and global communities through meaningful acts of service and advocacy.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with faculty to integrate service into the curriculum, coordinating immersive experiences that deepen students understanding of social justice issues, and cultivating a school-wide culture of service, faith in action, and leadership development.

Essential Functions

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive K-12 service-learning curriculum that aligns with the schools mission and values.
  2. Ensure the curriculum integrates with academic subjects across grade levels, emphasizing interdisciplinary connections.
  3. Link classroom learning to service projects, fostering real-world applications of knowledge and skills.
  4. Collaborate with faculty to incorporate service-learning principles into their subject areas, providing resources, strategies, and professional development as needed.
  5. Guide teachers in developing service-based lesson plans that encourage critical thinking, empathy, and civic engagement.
  6. Lead workshops, seminars, or reflection sessions for students to enhance their understanding of service and its broader implications.

Qualifications
