Clinical Research Associate I
**Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):**
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time clinical research experience. Experience working with study participants. Experience with data analysis, data collection and electronic database entry.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Certifications for clinical research (i.e Certified Human Research Biomedical Course, research HIPPA training). Experience with hospital electronic medical record review (i.e Cerner Powerchart). Experience working with an IRB (Investigational Review Board) for research protocol submissions, amendments and reviews. Experience with research informed consent process for subject enrollment into trials. Experience in Microsoft Office.
**Brief Description of Duties:**
Be responsible for management of clinical trials conducted at Stony Brook University, Neurosurgical Department. Will conduct screening and recruitment of Neurosurgical patients, obtain study informed consent, data collection, and quality assurance. Will assist with study-related administrative tasks, such as preparing IRB submissions, interim progress reports, updating study databases and study-related correspondence. Will work closely with the sponsors and site physicians for study management. Demonstrates basic computer proficiency. Meets clinical competency requirements. Develops and maintains open dialogue with patient and key personnel to communicate schedule and protocol changes to assure compliance to research project.
**Duties:**
+ Recruit, screen, consent and assist with schedule of research patients for Neurosurgery clinical research trials; collect and submit clinical trial patient data, coordinate patient appointments.
+ Maintain collected data in an electronic database.
+ Maintain study protocol documents and IRB compliance.
+ Perform various administrative duties; maintenance of clinical research study supplies and drug/device accountability.
+ Educate families as well as clinical staff on the research protocol and investigative study drugs/devices.
+ Coordinate patient appointments and assessments as per study protocols.
+ Demonstrate proficiency with hospital EMR, basic computer skills.
+ Coordinate various research trials and ensure compliance with federal guidelines.
+ Interact and correspond with various internal and external constituents including sponsors, cooperative groups, Institutional Review Board and regulatory agencies.
+ May assist the principal investigator with grant submissions and renewals.
+ Attend conferences and research meetings.
+ Assure timely communication of regulatory documents to the IRB. Report Serious Adverse Events as they occur and assists with the completion of FDA and Sponsor forms in accordance with GCP timelines. Oversee research equipment and study supplies.
+ Maintains knowledge and assure adherence to the Code of Federal regulations related to clinical research.
+ Maintain current certification in Human Subjects Research as required **.**
+ Facilitate the preparation of conference abstracts, oral presentations, and poster presentations, and participate in the development of manuscripts for publication **.**
+ Partner with departmental IT resources in the development of databases; data coding manuals and data entry guidelines **.**
+ Ensure that adverse events and protocol deviations are submitted to the IRB **.**
+ May provide research support for clinical trial patient enrollment for acute trials after business hours, on occasion as needed.
+ Other duties as assigned.

**Description**
The Department of Pathology at Stony Brook University's Renaissance School of Medicine (RSOM) is seeking clinical pathologist (M.D.) or clinical laboratory scientist (Ph.D.) to serve as Section Director of the Immunology/Serology and Flow Cytometry clinical laboratory. This position is at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor (dependent upon qualifications and experience). This appointment carries responsibilities in clinical service, education, research and institutional service missions of the RSOM. The Section Director will provide administrative oversight for the Immunology/Serology and Flow Cytometry laboratories within the Stony Brook University Hospital's (SBUH) Department of Laboratories.
The successful candidate will join a strong and experienced clinical pathology faculty at Long Island's leading academic medical center, with opportunities for collaborations in basic and translational science and teaching opportunities across the breadth of clinical pathology. Teaching responsibilities will include instruction of medical and dental students, clinical residents and fellows, and students enrolled in Stony Brook's Health Sciences programs. Strong candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead a team of experienced technical professionals, and to expand and retain talented clinical laboratory scientists and medical technologists-efforts supported by a recently revised organizational and salary structure. The Section Director must also stay current with emerging technologies (e.g., multi-parameter flow cytometry panels, advanced serologic platforms) to enhance laboratry capabilities. Clinical responsibilities include reviewing and interpreting immunology, serology and flow cytometry test results, as well as providing consultative support to clinical teams. Experience in designing and validating clinical laboratory assays and testing services is another important distinguishing quality.
Abundant opportunities for scholarship exist in collaborations with established research groups in microbiology, immunology, and oncology at the RSOM. Intramural funds are available to support investigator-initiated projects designed to generate preliminary data needed for longer-term extramural support. Advancement in this position will also involve service as an active member for working groups and committees spanning the broad mission of an academic medical center at the institutional, New York state, and national professional organization levels.
Academic rank at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and academic record.
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data Scientist to join our research team in the Department of Neurology ( . This role is focused on advancing our understanding of aging and neurodegenerative diseases through data-driven analyses. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing complex biomedical data sets including neuroimaging, genomics and other large-scale omics dataset applying machine learning techniques, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to extract biologically and clinically meaningful insights into aging and neurodegenerative diseases.

● Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field.
● 5 years of fulltime research experience in data analysis and machine learning to include at least three years of research experience following the attainment of a Doctoral Degree.
● Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages.
● Demonstrated ability to integrate and analyze diverse data types, including but not limited to:
○ Neuroimaging (e.g., fMRI, PET, DTI)

(What the role is)

The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is a division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). At CCRS, our mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community. Our vision is to be a world leading centre in tropical climate and weather research focusing on the Southeast Asia region.

Within CCRSs Department of Climate Research (DCR), the Climate Change Impacts (CCI) Branch focuses its research on four key priority areas that have been developed in consultation with Singapore stakeholder agencies: (a) Conducting inhouse research on topics such as i.) urban climate change, ii.) sea level rise, iii.) Heat impacts, and iv.) water supply and flood management using the CCRS high-resolution climate change dataset (V3); (b) Support government agencies through provision of targeted and tailored advice and briefs; (c) engage in collaborations with local and regional research groups on climate change impacts topics; and (d) Support the activities of the CCRS-based Weather and Climate Science Research Program Office (WCSRPO).

The research efforts will support Singapore stakeholders planning and decision-making processes on climate change adaptation. The climate impact research of DCRs CCI Branch will contribute directly to the goals of the Weather and Climate Science Research Program Office (WCSRPO) by linking climate impact research directly to stakeholder needs. Collaborations with Singapore and regional universities on relevant science projects will further boost climate impact research in Singapore.

We are seeking an experienced scientist and science manager with a strong background in climate and/or climate impact science or a related discipline to lead the CCI Branch (branch head) and experienced scientist with a strong background in urban climate and climate impact science or a related discipline to contribute to the research effort of the CCI Branch (research scientist). While urban climate change is the priority focus for this second position, additional research commitments (especially on sea level and/or water resources) are welcome.

(What you will be working on)

The job scope will include but not limited to the following:

  • Conduct climate impacts research and deliver outcomes related to CCI Branch key science areas
  • Contribute to CCI Branch strategic planning through contributions to annual work plans, end of year reports, regular meetings with BH CCI Branch and other relevant staff.
  • Contribute to support, nurture and developing of the junior scientists in the CCI Branch.
  • Contribute to effective stakeholder engagement
  • Facilitate collaborative climate science-services partnerships

Candidates with prior experience in research leadership role or previous experience in leading a science team and/or major project, may be considered for the branch head role, and will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure successful delivery of climate impacts research projects conducted within CCI Branch; lead and carry out research related to CCI Branch key science areas (ideally bringing further expertise and focus on sea level)
  • Under the oversight of the Deputy Director (DD/DCR), continue to identify priority areas of climate research suitable for CCI Branch projects.
  • Effectively lead the staff of the CCI Branch to nurture and develop the junior scientists to be key domain experts.

(What we are looking for)

The job might be for you if you possess the following:

  • PhD degree in physical sciences and research experience in atmospheric/oceanic science, climate science or meteorology
  • Medium-High proficiency in scientific computing, especially PYTHON;
  • 3 years post graduate research experience in a field relevant to climate science and/or one of the key climate change impacts research areas: (a) urban climate change; (b) urban heat and health; (c) sea level rise and (d) water resources
  • Strong publishing record with extensive citations
  • Versatile and creative verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate detailed technical/ scientific information into easily understood, engaging, influential and informative article/programme to a broad audience
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines on individual projects and as part of a diverse team.
  • Interest and passion to deliver relevant R&D for societal benefits.
