Job Description
Were looking for a Software Engineering Manager with 3+ years of eng. management experience and 5+ years of hands-on coding experience who wants to make an impact leading our new Automated Intelligence and Clinical Data teams. We want to make a difference in the lives of those falling between the cracks of the current healthcare system, and could use all the help we can get reimagining last-mile healthcare delivery.
*If you want to tackle tough technical challenges* , we want to talk to you. Health tech is challenging enough on its own, but add in DoorDash-style logistics problems at scale, the constraints of a distributed labor force working in patients homes, and the challenge of reaching millions of patients that have become disengaged from the healthcare system and things get interesting quickly. We need a strong leader who can drive their team to solve the hard problems like how to:
- Uncover care gaps and predict future risk with deep analysis of patient records
- Synthesize rich, pre-visit clinical summaries for our NPs using LLMs over past patient records
- Harmonize reporting of engagement and in-home visits for millions of patients across the largest US health plans
- Detect and prevent medical data errors with automated validation and anomaly detection
- Build Sprinters data warehouse from the ground up to unify vast clinical, operational and logistics data
If any of these sound interesting, Sprinter could be the right place for you. This is your chance to build something truly 0 to 1 at a company with meteoric growth.
Since just 2021, we've grown to:
- >50k patients served
- 6x revenue growth last year, 5x the year before
- >60% coverage of the US population
- 6 of the 10 largest US health plans
- >$70M raised from a16z, General Catalyst, GV, and Accel
*If you want to grow faster than you ever could at a big company* , we want to talk to you. If you're a fellow industry veteran looking to get in at the ground floor of something big, taking on radically larger scope and growing with the company, the best way to do so is with real responsibility to make real decisions. As an engineering leader at Sprinter, you'll have that while working alongside other engineers and product managers from the likes of Google, Meta, and Amazon. With industry-leading growth to date and plenty of room still to grow, getting in now is a recipe for success.
*If you want to make a difference* , we want to talk to you. Jeffrey Hammerbacher was right: "The best minds of my generation are thinking about how to make people click ads. That sucks." I've done the Google and Facebook thing for a decade. Was it personally rewarding? Absolutely. But now I want to do something more directly for others, which is why I started this company.
If any of this sounds like something you'd want to be a part of, just let me know. I'd really love to chat.
Cameron,
Co-founder / CTO

- Experience working cross-functionally with product, operations, and data teams to drive business and customer impact
- Experience managing engineering teams

- Experience leading data-intensive teams, working with data pipelines, analytics platforms, or ML infrastructure

This team includes Software Engineers and Systems Engineers focused on defining and achieving reliability metrics for Anthropic's critical serving systems. As a manager, you'll lead the team that's significantly improving reliability for Anthropic's services while pioneering the use of modern AI capabilities to reengineer how we approach reliability engineering. This leadership role is critical to Anthropic's mission to bring groundbreaking AI technologies to benefit humanity in a safe and reliable way.

- Lead the strategy for automated failover and recovery systems across multiple regions and cloud providers
- Establish and manage incident response processes for critical AI services, ensuring your team drives rapid recovery and systematic improvements
- Direct cost optimization initiatives for large-scale AI infrastructure, with focus on accelerator (GPU/TPU/Trainium) utilization and efficiency
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align reliability engineering efforts with broader company objectives
- Build a strong engineering culture focused on reliability, operational excellence, and innovation
You May Be A Good Fit If You:
- Have experience managing and scaling reliability or infrastructure engineering teams
- Possess deep technical knowledge of distributed systems observability and monitoring at scale
- Understand the unique challenges of operating AI infrastructure and can guide technical decisions

The Expected Salary Range For This Position Is:
Annual Salary: $405,000 - $485,000 USD
LogisticsEducation Requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa Sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We Encourage You To Apply Even If You Do Not Believe You Meet Every Single Qualification: Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
How We're DifferentWe believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come Work With Us!Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
