Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for assisting the various laboratories, maintaining the right levels of inventory, and acting as a backup for Facilities management support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for receiving and processing incoming material, securely and safely storing temperature-sensitive materials, issuing material to work orders and other uses, ensuring that all necessary transactions are completed in the ERP system, performing cycle counts, analyzing inventory discrepancies and other duties such as assigned
  • Experience in receiving, stockroom, shipping, material handling and inventory analysis roles. Experience in a rapid-growth life science environment working with temperature-sensitive materials is a plus
  • Must be able to create and maintain Excel skills on a need basis
  • Experience in implementing, executing, and improving cycle count programs, 2 bin systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with ordering supplies
  • Enter Data into the ERP system - Cycle Count Module, Receiving parts, Shipping parts, RMA returns. Fill out the commercial invoice
  • Track Freight With various Carriers on a need basis
  • Use Hand Trucks, Pallet Jacks, and Scales safely and effectively
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma OR 10 years of relevant experience
  • Forklift Certification preferred, not required

Additional Information

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the hourly range for this full-time position is $21.11 to $29.01. The range does not include benefits and, if applicable, overtime, bonus, commission, or equity.

**Shipment Verification:**
+ Inspect all incoming packages for damage prior to acceptance.
+ Notify supervisor immediately if any damage is found before signing for delivery.
+ Verify that incoming items match shipping documentation and purchase orders.
+ Date-stamp received items and note verification of each line item.
+ Submit verification documentation to Shipping & Receiving Manager.
+ Properly tag and direct materials for production use.
**Yard and Inventory Management:**
+ Maintain an orderly yard by stacking orders neatly and organizing scrap bins and pallets.
+ Ensure extrusions are covered and protected in the yard.
+ Keep the yard clean and free of trash.
+ Move and restack materials on the shop floor to assist production as needed.
+ Assist with inventory counts and related tasks as directed.
**General Assistance:**
+ Provide support in the shop as time and workload permit.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
**Qualifications:**
+ Must have a clean driving record.
+ Ability to drive a truck and trailer safely and confidently.
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Ability to inspect shipments and verify accuracy.
+ Physically capable of loading/unloading materials and performing manual labor.
+ Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
+ Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or material handling preferred.

**Pay Details:** $18.00 per hour
