The reporting location for this position is Armstrong Woods State Recreation Area. The CA State Parks is currently hiring Skilled Laborers for the Sonoma-Mendocino District Trail Crew. These positions will work under the Supervision of the District Park Maintenance Chief I.
The Trail Crew Skilled Laborer (PI) will perform skilled and semi-skilled trail and natural resource maintenance projects throughout the district. This position will also act as a lead worker and will be responsible for training seasonal crew members in tasks such as trail maintenance and construction, hazard tree removal, vegetation management, and natural resource protection/restoration projects. Typical tasks include trail brushing, rock wall construction, carpentry, operating chainsaws and woodchippers, tree climbing, assisting in prescribed fire operations, maintaining tools and equipment, monitoring seasonal staff and contracted work crews, and keeping daily logs.
Possession of a valid Class C Driver's License is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The incumbents work schedule will be Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM but this shift may vary depending on season and project location. May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, or odd hours to accomplish assigned tasks. A State trailer pad may be available.
