POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- CUSTOMER INTERACTION: Greet customer and answer questions regarding construction project installation process. Provide regular updates on timeline and completion.
- LEAD PROJECT INSTALLATION: Oversee carpentry / construction crew on install by following plans / specs provided by Project Manager. Coordinate the delivery of materials to keep project moving, and to finish on time. Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise. Coordinate for additional help if needed. Ensure company vehicle is maintained and stocked with materials.
- SAFETY OVERSIGHT: Maintain a safe, productive and tidy work site at all times. Comply with safety protocol and ensure crew is following as well.
- KNOWLEDGE: Minimum two (2) years experience in Carpentry as a Carpentry Foreman, Carpenter, Construction Carpenter, Deck Builder, or similar role. A consistent work history.
- SKILLS: Excellent customer service skills. Ability to operate power tools safely, and drive a truck and trailer. Must comply with safety protocol including hearing, eye, and respiratory protection.
- ABILITY: This role is onsite and requires reporting to our office in Waterloo, NE. Schedule is predominantly Monday-Friday 7am-5pm, with occasional Saturdays. A valid driver's license and ability to pass a felony/misdemeanor background and driving (Motor Vehicle Record) check. Must be available / on call for snow clearing in the winter.

Essential Responsibilities:
Performs any combination of the following duties on construction projects, usually working in a utility capacity and by transferring from one task to another. Activities include but are not limited to:
- Measures distances from grade stakes, drive stakes and stretch tight lines.
- Bolts, nails and aligns and blocks up under forms.
- Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
- Levels earth to fine grade specifications, using pick and shovel.
- Mixes concrete, using float, trowel and screed.
- Positions, joins and aligns and seals pipe sections.
- Erects scaffolding, shoring and braces.
- Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, or paint through hose to clean, coat or seal crevices.
- Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces, such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring using abrading tools or machines.
- Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, mounting pipe hangers, and cutting and attaching insulating materials.
- Work is usually performed with other workers.
Ability to work without close supervision once directed on task.
Obeys and follows all safety rules on the job site and encourages others to do the same.
Maintains a good relationship with co-workers and works well with others to accomplish a task.
Physical demands of this position include lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally; 40-50 pounds frequently along with frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and handling.

Position is responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled construction activities in such areas as concrete, structural steel erection, welding, millwrighting, and general carpentry, with a primary emphasis on finished carpentry. Incumbents may serve as a lead to Construction Workers or Laborers in the absence of a Job Foreman or Job Superintendent. The Skilled Construction Worker is the third level of an eight-level construction series. The Skilled Construction Worker is distinguished from the Construction Worker by the skill and experience level required to perform tasks in three specialized trade areas. The Skilled Construction Worker is distinguished from the Job Foreman which has responsibility for coordinating tasks within a project and serving as a lead to construction crews.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
- Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated; prepare layouts, using measuring tape, framing square, calipers; and marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
- Shapes materials to prescribed measurements; assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with appropriate tools; verifies trueness of structure with layout tools; and erects framework for structures and lays sub flooring.
- Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work.
- Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware.
- Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
- Certified welders should be able to read weld symbols and identify a weld meets specifications, have an understanding of maintenance and calibration of welding machines, understand proper handling of welding material and gases.
- Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping; and smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straight edge and float or power screed.
- Finishes or repair concrete surfaces to specified finish, may specialize in finishing steps and stairways, or may break up and repair old concrete surfaces.
- Aligns material to specified connections; verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of materials.
- Qualified in rigging & hoisting of materials
- Performs millwright duties by reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine layout of equipment; dismantling machines; moving machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks; and, assembling and installing equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
- Serves as a lead to Laborers, Construction Workers, and other Skilled Construction Workers by monitoring and assigning work to construction crew in the absence of a Foreman or Superintendent.
- Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent, Field Safety Coordinator or HR Manager.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support project and organizational success.

- Valid Driver's License preferred
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
- Or four years of construction-related experience specializing in two or more trades.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed above.
- Frequent physical activity like climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, and using hands.
- Work may involve exposure to mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils, harsh weather, poor lighting, tight spaces, and loud noise.
- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally (with team assistance) and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
