**What you will do**
As Volvo aims to go beyond Industry 4.0 and integrate AI systems in the production line to improve our operational efficiency, your primary role will be to work directly with various business teams in the North American factories and our global partners to identify pain points and areas for optimization. As the Senior Software Engineer you will design and develop digital products and AI based solutions crossfunctionally to successfully deliver reliable and secure systems that meet Volvo guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and implement high-quality, scalable, and reusable software components using appropriate programming languages and technologies
- Collaborate with application delivery teams (developers, architects, testers) to ensure software components meet functional and non-functional requirements
- Implement best practices in coding, documentation, and version control to maintain high standards of software quality and reliability
- Manage the lifecycle of software components from inception through deployment and maintenance
- Plan and coordinate component releases, including versioning, dependency management, and compatibility testing
- Monitor and analyze component performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimizations as needed
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software components, including technical specifications, APIs, and usage guidelines

The Software Engineer Intern will provide support for the Software Engineering team. Activities will include designing reliable, functional, and cost-effective vehicle control software; develop and test programming for vehicles and systems; support various systems through troubleshooting or reprogramming the system. This role will work on a variety of key projects and initiatives ranging from simple tasks to more complex analytical projects.
**YOUR IMPACT**
+ Write quality, maintainable, object-oriented C++ software.
+ Develop and maintain PC programs used for the configuration of truck specific programming.
+ Identify and control vehicle operation and maintenance risks.
