Job Summary
In this role, you will be creating and influencing the development of software supporting leading edge instrument technology that helps protect environmental resources, facilitates production of life-saving pharmaceutical products, and improves efficiencies in microelectronics manufacturing. You will work as a Software Development Engineer designing software tools for product development projects launching new analytical instrumentation and for maintaining existing product lines.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execute full application development, unit testing, and debugging of software products working collaboratively with other developers and testing staff
  • Participate in the Agile software development process, including regular standups; code reviews; demos; and sprint planning meetings
  • Work with Functional Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and Scrum Masters, or acting as Scrum Master, to create stories, estimate efforts, and track progress toward milestones.
  • Develop technical documentation and follow established software procedures to support release and provide a basis for future development projects.
  • Work closely with QA staff, customer support, and colleagues both onsite and offsite to provide technical expertise and leadership.
  • Collaborate to overcome various development challenges and ensure the successful implementation of software solutions.
  • Provide leadership on project teams to overcome technical challenges in development
  • Ensure successful implementation of software solutions where significant coordination and handoff is required with onsite personnel
  • Lead design reviews and knowledge transfer activities
  • Mentor more junior team members by providing technical guidance and subject matter expertise

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Windows C# application development, interfacing with databases, installers (Inno, NSIS, Wix), networking
  • Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) UI framework and .NET framework experience
  • Deployment of SQL Server databases in client/server enterprise environment
  • Microsoft Visual Studio IDE experience
  • Nice to have experience with C++, QT, embedded PostgreSQL databases, and LInux
  • Experience with Unit test during the software development lifecycle
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to troubleshooting and debugging
  • Ability to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability in code developed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively work within a larger cross functional team both onsite and remotely
  • Ability to manage actions for small to medium projects to completion while sharing technical

Education & Experience
Required:

  • Bachelors in computer science, mathematics, or related field
  • 4+ years of related software developer experience

What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

  • Develop new ESRI/ QGIS related add-ins using the SDK, webapps and tools to support internal and external stake holders.

  • Write and optimize ETLs in both Linux and Windows environments using scripting languages: Python and other ancillary languages with associated libraries.
  • Expand the company's geospatial capabilities with open-source and cloud native services and software and integrate with other third party applications.
  • Develop tools or workflows to assist other production teams like Vivid, Tasking, Collection Planning and other Constellation Management teams.
  • Collaborate with other developers throughout the development process, both those on your immediate team and those on other teams that build supporting software.
  • Evolve your language skills by staying current with complementary programming languages, development methodologies, user interface design techniques, and database tools and technologies.

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience. Desired degree's include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Geosciences, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience
  • 5+ years of strong coding experience in Python, C#, Java, JavaScript
  • GIS experience and knowledge of raster & imagery
  • Experience with GIS technology in an operational environment via ESRI ArcPro, ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and Catalog), or QGIS. Experience with Add-ins for QGIS/ESRI is a major plus.
  • Experience with AWS devops and automation tools (Docker, Kubernetes ) is required
  • Minimum 2Years experience working in a cloud-based environment
  • Technical Skills:Proficient in SQL, database design, and data modeling. Experience with AWS CLI, SDKs, and CloudWatch.

* The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $98,000.00 - $164,000.00 annually.

About the Role

This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government which, due to federal government security requirements, mandates that all Workday personnel working on the contracts be United States citizens (naturalized or native)

As a Senior Software / Software Development in IDX Search, you will:
  • Write and maintain robust, efficient, and testable code using premier languages, frameworks, and tools, including React, Kotlin, Webflux, Elasticsearch, TypeScript, Cypress, CI/CD, Jenkins, Gradle, and Workday XpressO (XO).
  • Support services and customers in the production environment in specific environments from frontend to backend.
  • Lead and mentor other engineers on the team
  • Design and lead meaningful features with a strong focus on non-functional requirements. (scalability, performance, monitoring, maintenance, security, usability and quality etc).
  • Be a flexible teammate as part of a fast-paced product development team
  • Provide technical influence within the team, with ability to lead technical & functional discussions

About You

Basic Qualifications:

Software Development Engineer
  • 3+ years of Object-Oriented Design and Programming experience building scalable systems enterprise-level software with a focus on performance, scalability and security as part of a multi-functional team. (Kotlin/Java/spring boot or functional programming background preferred)
  • 2+ years experience in front-end development; creating RESTful Web applications, developed within the React ecosystem.
  • Experienced in supporting services in PROD environments.
  • Experienced in build technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Gradle and Jenkins.
  • Experienced in deployments technologies. (Terraform, yaml are preferred)
Sr Software development Engineer
  • 7+ years of Object-Oriented Design and Programming experience building enterprise-level software with a focus on performance, scalability and security as part of a multi-functional team. (Kotlin/Java/spring boot or functional programming background preferred)
  • 3+ years experience in front-end development; creating RESTful Web applications, developed within the React ecosystem.
  • Experienced in supporting services in PROD environments.
  • Experienced in build technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Gradle and Jenkins.
  • Experienced in deployments technologies. (Terraform, yaml are preferred)
Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Workday XpressO and Internal Code Lifecycle Development in Workday is a plus.
  • Experience developing distributed and concurrent systems; secure, fault tolerant, highly available, recoverable, consistent, scalable, and predictable and the tradeoffs therein
  • Experience with performance, scalability, and security of services.
  • Experienced in collaborating with diverse teams in a fast-paced, Scrum-based environment.
  • Troubleshooting and triaging skills to resolve escalated production and customer issues.
  • Skilled in turning ambiguous problems into clear solutions.
  • Able to balance priorities and communicate cross-functionally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in producing high quality technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages and paradigms is a plus.


Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
