Provides strategic advice and guidance around the technical direction and engineering processes directly supporting the design, delivery and support of software applications and engineering activities within the software development function. Ensures engineering assignments, practices and implementation are aligned and in adherence with standardized and approved industry conventions and emerging directions. Identifies, evaluates, and develops processes and protocols to manage the software engineering and operational workflows with consideration to both functional and non-functional requirements. Provides expertise, guidance, and mentoring to team members. Identifies opportunities for operational improvement.
The Cloud FinOps Advisor will play a key role in optimizing cloud spend while enabling engineering teams to maximize performance and efficiency. This individual contributor role requires deep technical expertise in cloud platforms (primarily GCP), software development, and cloud cost management, working closely with Engineering, Finance, Software Development, Infrastructure, and Business Units.
Job Responsibility
1.Provides strategic advice and guidance to the software development function by working with and guiding team members and building engineering consensus for applications development.
2.Advises senior leadership to define, develop, and articulate the engineering strategy for all areas of responsibility.
3.Provides technical guidance and hands-on application for all aspects of software development and delivery including software component design, development, quality assurance process, documentation, training, and application performance; determines scope, mentors and coordinates technical resources, and oversees correct and timely execution and implementation of software development projects.
4.Provide recommendations and perspectives to senior leaders, bridging gaps between high-level and code level assignments.
5.Maintains documentation of architecture, design, implementation, and rationale behind technical decisions.
6.Interfaces with other teams for development alignment and timing, works directly with product management and product owners translating business requirements to technical directions and effective use cases and establishes and administers engineering practices, policies, and processes.
7.Maitains expertise knowledge of and implements new and emerging technologies, methodologies, processes, and procedures to improve application development and support short and long-term department goals.
8.Continually identifies improvement areas for software development efficiencies.
9.Applies advanced software design methodologies in hybrid cloud and virtualized environments; serves as a consultant and advisor to software and information architects to leverage effective and common design patterns, data structures and data management.
10.Works in hybrid application environments, leading technical direction for integrations and interoperability, effective work with 3rd parties and 3rd party products as required
11.Transfers knowledge of key learnings throughout the enterprise.

Job Qualification
*Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
*10+ years of relevant experience and 2+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
Highly Preferred:
* 5+ years of experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure (GCP preferred).
* Experience with cloud cost management tools (Cloudability, CloudHealth, GCP Cost Explorer).
* Engineering background with experience in infrastructure-as-code, automation, and cloud-native architectures a plus
* Understanding of cloud billing models and cost impact of usage patterns.
* Certifications preferred: GCP Professional Cloud Architect, FinOps Certified Practitioner.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide actionable insights for cloud cost reduction.
