SUMMARY

ANSYS Government Initiatives Inc. is seeking a passionate Senior Software Development Team Lead to join our Programs and Solutions team. The team's primary emphasis lies in crafting software functionality integrating and automating Ansys' commercial simulation software tools to meet specific customer requirements for design, engineering, and operations in the aerospace and defense market. As part of this team, you will be responsible for guiding and coordinating team members to achieve project goals. You will collaborate closely with our project managers, designers, and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions that empower engineers, analysts, and operators in extracting maximum insights from their simulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop solution architecture, statements of work and services proposals. Contribute to simulation assessments. Negotiate services deliverables & technical success criteria.
  • Leads planning, architecture, and sprint development at a project level.
  • Coordinates project design and development activities requiring extensive analysis in areas such as user experience, software design, solution deployment and integration.
  • Acts as a technical reference within a group or project.
  • Develops and employs best practices and maintains them through technical reviews and mentoring.
  • May work with strategic customers or partners to assess needs and develop solutions.
  • Operates without direct supervision and may function as a team leader, project manager, or software architect.
  • May be responsible for line management of a small technical team but primary duties are of an individual technical nature.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12 years' experience, MS with 10 years' experience, or PhD with 7 years' experience
  • Experience leading projects and delivering high-quality products in a U.S Government or defense contractor environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development, experience with building solutions using simulation technology and deploying those solutions within customers' engineering workflows
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages
  • Experience with version control systems and Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies, and to mentor junior developers.
  • Ability to translate business or mission needs into development plans.
  • Ability to overcome obstacles and drive projects to completion.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+16, MS+14, or PhD+11
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives
  • Experience with back-end technologies such as Java, C#, Python.
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Angular)

About the Role:


As the Team Leader – Collaboration you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-impact client projects across our Ultracs product suite. Reporting to the Chief Design and Emerging Markets Officer, you’ll oversee a talented team, manage project support functions, and ensure seamless execution of collaboration services. Your leadership will directly influence client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. You will also take a hands on approach yourself, using your extensive software development experience to problem solve and resolve more complex technical challenges.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the delivery of complex client projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Supervise and mentor a team of collaboration specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
  • Manage project support triage, defect resolution, and change request processes with precision and professionalism
  • Oversee third-party testing schedules and budgets, ensuring rigorous quality assurance
  • Act as the escalation point for project-related incidents, responding calmly and effectively to resolve issues

  • Strong understanding of client relationship management in project-driven environments.
