Strong foundational knowledge in Cloud Computing e.g. "The Datacenter is a Computer" architecture, cloud security architecture, virtualization - CPU, Memory and IO, Resource pooling and elasticity. Proven skills in Distributed Systems & Parallel Processing e.g. System model of distributed computation e.g. topology abstraction, logical time. Synchronization and deadlock detection in distributed systems, Fault Tolerance and Failure Detection, Consensus and Agreement protocols, Parallel algorithms, shared memory and distributed memory architecture, message passing (MPI, NCCL), Cluster scalability and performance. Hands-on Debugging skills with Process, Threads, Deadlock and Synchronization, Scheduling, IPC, Memory management, File system, and I/O structure. As an L2/L3 Software Development Engineer at Versa Networks, you will be a critical member of the platform team working with the engineering group. While your primary responsibilities would be the development of switching/routing products, you are expected to be knowledgeable on Networking and L2/L3 technologies. We expect you to have hands-on experience in software development methodologies and usage of tools.

Skillset / Experience:
We are looking for an experienced Software Developer to help build and automate critical control plane systems. This role requires a blend of core software development and testing skills, with a strong emphasis on creating maintainable, high-quality code for systems where reliability is paramount. You'll work in a fast-paced, agile environment with two-week sprints and well-defined tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Automate components of the control plane, adding guardrails and ensuring configurations are thoroughly tested.
- Develop and maintain CLI tools and services using Python and Node.js.
- Set up infrastructure for testing, simulate traffic, and handle complex testing scenarios.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure continuity of high-impact systems
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand functionality and translate requirements into robust solutions.
- 7+ years of software development experience
- Strong experience supporting and enhancing large-scale critical systems
- Strong experience with automation scripting and automating critical platform components
- Knowledge of networking concepts like DNS and CDN (not in-depth, but enough to understand request flows).
- Proficiency in Python and Node.js
- Familiarity with AWS (Lambda, API Gateway)
- Fundamental SQL experience
- Proven ability to write logical and maintainable code at scale
