Walton Beach, FL, Ann Arbor, MI, London, Stuttgart, Munich, Stockholm, Seoul, and Tokyo. Learn more at appliedintuition.com.
We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. (Note: For EpiSci job openings, fully remote work will be considered by exception.)
About the role
The Developer Productivity group is the developer-infrastructure engine inside Vehicle OS. This team owns the build systems, CI/CD pipelines, HW/SW-in-the-loop (HIL/SIL) testbeds, and scalable developer workflows that touch two-thirds of Applied's engineering organization. We enable hundreds of engineers-and, by extension, our OEM customers-to ship high-quality code faster.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager who is equal parts hands-on technologist and force-multiplier. You'll guide a 4-8 person team building tooling and automation that raises developer productivity across Vehicle OS and the broader organization. Expect to set technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with autonomy, simulation, and hardware groups to define best-in-class processes for a still-nascent automotive software space.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Own the charter, roadmap, and execution for Developer Productivity build systems, test infrastructure, and developer-workflow automation
- Lead and grow a small, high-impact team; provide architectural guidance and career mentorship
- Design scalable CI/CD pipelines and HIL/SIL frameworks that integrate C++, Python, Go, and embedded codebases
- Drive adoption of rigorous testing, code-quality, and release practices across Vehicle OS (Android/Linux, BSP/HAL, safety-critical RTOS)
- Partner with product and security teams to ensure compliance, reliability, and rapid iteration for internal and customer releases
- Champion a culture of efficiency, continuous improvement, and healthy technical debate
- 5-8 years of relevant software-engineering experience, with 2+ years managing teams of 4-10
- Proven technical depth in at least one of Python, C++, or Go and familiarity with large-scale build/test systems
- Hands-on expertise in CI/CD, tooling, or developer-productivity platforms (e.g., Bazel, Buildkite, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Demonstrated ability to ship infrastructure that supports safety-critical or performance-sensitive products
- Strong communication skills and a bias toward decisive, action-oriented leadership
- Startup experience scaling engineering processes from scratch
- Background in automotive, robotics, embedded systems, or large cloud services
- Experience with HIL/SIL, containerization (Docker/K8s), and distributed test orchestration
- BS/MS in Computer Science or similar from a top program (Stanford, Berkeley, CMU, Waterloo, etc.)
Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.
Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
Please reference the job posting's subtitle for where this position will be located. For pay transparency purposes, the base salary range for this full-time position in the location listed is: $204,000 to $343,000 USD annually.
