Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Schedule and confirm appointments, conduct patient retention calls, and coordinate provider schedules for efficient clinic operations.
- Assist patients with paperwork, insurance verification, and financial transactions, including payment collection and petty cash reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring all documentation is up to date and filed properly.
- Perform minor hearing aid maintenance as allowed by state/provincial law, such as battery changes, wax guard replacements, and troubleshooting basic device issues.
- Support marketing efforts, including coordinating community outreach events, educational seminars, and patient engagement activities.
- Assist with inventory management, tracking hearing aids, repairs, and product stock.
- Must work between 3 clinics in Commack, Fresh Meadow & Franklin Square
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of office management or customer service experience, preferably in healthcare or sales.
- Passion for patient care and interest in pursuing a long-term career in the hearing healthcare industry.

Position Overview:
HumanEdge Health is seeking experienced Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to join a high-acuity adult psychiatric unit in The Bronx. This is a 13-week contract ideal for professionals passionate about mental health and equipped with the skills to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform safety checks and patient rounding every 15 minutes
- Monitor vitals and conduct routine weight checks (every Saturday)
- Provide ADLs and 1:1 direct observation as needed
- Conduct phlebotomy and blood glucose checks (prior experience required)
- Assist with de-escalation, behavioral support, and crisis intervention

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Desk: Patient Reception and Visit Flow (15%)
• Monitor health screenings at front desk.
• Greet all patients and visitors according to PPGNY standards and collect all pertinent demographic and billing information, including insurance verification, following PPGNY and NYSDSS guidelines.
• Change and update patient demographics in electronic health record.
• Initiate CVR (superbill) and activate electronic health record to start visit.
• Sign appropriate consents and reception forms.
• Manage walk-in clients according to availability in the schedule.
Scheduling, Appointment Schedule Management, Phones (15%)
• Answers phones and triages patient calls, including appointment management.
• Scrub the schedule and prepare charts for next day services according to information required by visit type and services requested.
Billing and Revenue Cycle Duties (10%)
• Process supply requests, collect payments and co-pays in accordance with PPGNY supply sales, cash handling, and banking policies. Reconcile audit reports to payments and prepare deposits.
• Screen all patients for eligibility for in-state assisted insurance programs while assisting patients in completing these insurance applications if applicable.
Monitor and Maintain Office and Waiting Areas (5%)
• Responsible for opening and closing front desk area.

ICA Patient Care (5%)
• Assists in abortion service in a variety of functions as needed, including abortion counseling, Products of Conception (POC) room, infections prevention float and assisting in surgical room.
Maintenance of Clinical Skills and Competencies (10%)
• Attends monthly didactics and incorporates information into daily care provision.
• Maintains clinical skills and competencies as required by PPGNY, PPFA, and NYS DOH. Participates in annual competency checks and training for all new services, tests, and skills as assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Requires prolonged sitting and repetitive tasks including use of a computer. Frequent standing, walking, bending. Must be able to walk up and down stairs. As part of a multi-disciplinary team providing medical care, the PCA is responsible for patient intake in the clinic and front desk, obtaining complete medical history, provides education about human sexuality, family planning, abortion, colposcopy, LEEP and general health education, as applicable.
What the Patient Care Associate does:- Reviews the patient health history for completeness and records findings. Alerts APC regarding critical information about the patient chief complaint, history of present illness, and other patient information.
- Documents competently in the electronic medical record using the correct PPGNY templates and forms.
- Assists in promoting optimum center operations, excellent patient service and compliance with both agency and funding source policies and regulations.
- Adheres to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in-clinic and on the phone, and the system for addressing client complaints.
- Assess flow of patients through health center to minimize patient wait times.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new clinic staff, as indicated
- Ensures charge capture and financial reporting by accurately documenting in EHR and completing CVR data as appropriate for all medical and counseling services provided.
- Ensures access to interpreter services for patients with communication barriers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provides health education and care related to sexual and reproductive healthcare
- Provide accurate patient centered, non-judgmental, education according to MS&G and signs informed consent related to visit.
- Performs laboratory tests as ordered, completes laboratory requisitions, and packages labs for transport according to PPGNY lab procedures. Runs Daily Controls.
- Performs clinic opening and closing duties; clinic and equipment cleaning; re-stocking supplies, etc. Reports facility and equipment issues, as indicated
- Follows all lab and quality assurance protocols; uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control precautions
- Assists in abortion service in a variety of functions as needed, including abortion counseling, Products of Conception (POC) room, float and assisting in surgical room.
- Attends monthly didactics and incorporates information into daily care provision.
- Maintains clinical skills and competencies as required by PPGNY, PPFA, and NYS DOH. Participates in annual competency checks and training for all new services, tests, and skills as assigned.
- Maintains up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High school diploma/GED
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited school or program
- Minimum 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant
