Position Title: Student Success Advisor and Disability Support Services Coordinator, FT
Reports to: Kay Widmer, VP of Student Support and Teresa Boyes, Director of Student Success

Reporting to the Director of Student Success and Vice President of Student Support, the SSA/DSS Coordinator will provide academic advising services to students, meet with program directors, create academic success resources for students, and work with students with disabilities to identify and implement reasonable accommodations. The successful candidate will have great attention to detail and organizational skills, be skilled at creating and maintaining relationships, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Day shift (somewhere between 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
- Some evening and weekend hours required
- Some travel required
- This position requires employees to be physically present in the office at least three days per week, with the understanding that some weeks may require additional on-site days based on operational needs.
DSS Coordinator
- Ensure accountability of the office through preparation and maintenance of administrative records and reports.
- Evaluate disability documentation from qualified professionals.
- Work with other administrative staff to assist in the management of testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Manage disability records management (AIM) with attention to the protection of confidentiality of all student records (disability documentation, database, case notes) and in accordance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations.
- Coordinates and provides various academic accommodations and services to students with disabilities.
- Coordinates note taking assistance accommodation and priority seating accommodations.
- Assist the Library for proctoring exams.
- Work with students, faculty, staff, and other offices to provide coordinated academic support services to all students, in particular students with disabilities.
- Participate in orientation/early registration activities for new students.
- Maintain and accurately document required student records and manage student files for monitoring and referral purposes.
- Provide academic advising to enrolled and matriculated students (course planning, academic success skills, change of major, etc.).
- Reach out to students identified through Early Warnings, addressing their concerns, setting goals, and connecting them with campus resources.
- Meet with students on Academic Warning to explain semester requirements and create Academic Success plans.
- Evaluate and sign documents to confirm semester courses fulfill degree program requirements (such as, Veterans Affairs and International Student forms).
- Meet with program directors and department chairs to discuss sequence updates, 5-year plans, and changes to programs.
- Support the Student Success Advising team by holding drop-in hours, regular campus outreach, and onboarding new students.
- Document advising meetings and outreach to students in written electronic format.
- Work with outside departments (Accounting, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and others) to help address cross-departmental concerns
- Attend professional development activities related to student and academic development.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Support and Director of Student Success.
- Assist Student Affairs department with events and programs.
- Bachelor's degree in guidance and counseling, adult and higher education, social work, vocational rehabilitation, clinical psychology, or a related field, and at least one year of professional or paraprofessional experience in academic advising or student services in higher education.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Knowledge of federal laws relevant to work in this position, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
- Experience working with Accessible Information Management system or other accommodation management system.
- Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders and students with learning disabilities.
- Experience working with first year college students and at-risk students.
- Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and proven interpersonal skills.
- Master's Degree in Higher Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or a related area.
- Knowledge of student success skills for studying, time management, and academic goal setting.
- Experience using Colleague Self-Service and Who's Next? Platforms.

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- At least one year of experience as a Pediatric RN within the last five years.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification covering infants, children, and adults.
- Proven experience with ventilator/tracheostomy care, tube feeding, and transfer assistance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Effective communication skills with clinical and non-clinical staff, children, adolescents, and family/caregivers.
- Valid driver’s license, if applicable.
- Meets applicable health requirements for patient care.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Work settings include clinics, schools, hospitals, doctor’s offices, or occupational settings providing daycare for children.
- Physical capabilities include stretching, reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs.
