ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining plant equipment in a state of readiness. Performs the appropriate plant production equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Prepares all required daily/weekly department operating reports. This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. This person will regularly work overtime.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Schedules and performs preventative maintenance on plant equipment by following the manufacture's recommended service intervals and company procedures. Maintains an inventory of regularly required replacement parts.
  • Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments. Reports required repairs or other findings to Supervisor.
  • Performs required emergency repairs on production equipment required to address plant breakdowns.
  • Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks, and completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Routinely walk the plant to inspect mechanical equipment and parts and systems in need of repair or replacement.
  • Maintain crushers, conveyor belts, pulleys, pumps, screens and screen bearings.
  • Prior to undertaking any diagnosis or repair, conduct a job safety analysis to identify and isolate any hazards such as energy (lock-out, tag-out), working at heights, confined spaces, etc.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) years' experience in mechanical repair, installation, and construction in heavy industry.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must have a working knowledge of basic mechanical aptitude, general plant maintenance experience. Changing screens, welding, cutting torch, wrenching (hand tools).
  • Operating a skid steer, man lift is a plus.
  • Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding/fabrication skills highly desirable.
  • Ability to work overtime

Job Description:
**Summary:**
This role is responsible for general maintenance assignments and performing day-to-day equipment and facility repairs. This position may also support projects such as rebuilding pumps, motors, and other shop repairs as needed. At times, duties may also include handling hazardous materials, waste, water treatment and performing inspections.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Follow specified safety protocol when performing all routine and non-routine maintenance procedures.
+ Perform preventative, corrective and routine maintenance on facilities equipment to ensure proper functionality, and ensure necessary paperwork is completed accurately.
+ Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures, identify appropriate solutions, and repair equipment as needed.
+ Reference equipment blueprints, diagrams, or other resource materials to ensure proper inspection, repair, and use of equipment.
+ Maintain accurate records of work in progress and completed tasks.
+ Maintain a clean work environment.
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent. May consider equivalent work experience in lieu of education
+ 2+ years' maintenance experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
+ Experience with quality management systems
+ Certified forklift operator or ability to become certified
+ Respirator certified or ability to become certified
+ Successful completion of Hazardous Waste (RCRA) Intermediate level training

**Job Functions:**
+ This is a customer-facing position with general customer service duties including, but not limited to, providing assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience.

**The Job You Will Perform:**
This position is responsible for safely providing maintenance support to our fast-paced plant. We require both excellent mechanical skills and knowledge (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmission, and lubrication) and electrical/electronic skills and knowledge (PLCs, A/C, D/C motors and drives, schematics) in our continuous process manufacturing environment to achieve machine uptime metrics.
Work positively with teams to troubleshoot and solve problems and be engaged in preventative maintenance processes in assigned areas.
+ Performing preventive maintenance activities such as lubricating, measuring wear, measuring position, repositioning components, and observing operations.
+ Performing emergency break downs
+ Performing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and other repairs and installations as needed.
+ Maintaining clean and organized work areas, and cleaning up work areas as part of completing assigned tasks.
+ Accurately and completely prepare and maintain maintenance records and other paperwork.
+ Troubleshooting and solving problems
+ Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem solving skills.
+ Willingness to fully cross train in other technical areas to enhance capabilities.
+ Candidates must be willing to work alternative shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
+ Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
