**Job Summary and Qualifications**
**General Statement of Duties:**
The specialist participates as a member of the transplant team by providing deceased donor organ pulsatile perfusion and organ procurement services for the organ transplant departments. The specialist also assists the organ transplant surgeons during the deceased and living donor transplants by preparing the donor organs and assisting the transplant surgeon with the exposure of the recipient blood vessels in preparation for transplant.
**Essential Job Functions:**
1. Performs cadaveric renal perfusion services for Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital.
2. Performs procurements for all organs, which includes, but is not limited to excising the organ, as well as preparing cadaveric organs prior to placement on the renal preservation device or into the recipient.
3. Provides surgical assistance to all solid organ surgeons during donor and recipient surgeries.
4. Participates in 24 hour on call duties shared by all procurement/preservation staff.
5. Responsible for renal preservation equipment, as well as ordering/tracking supplies.
6. Participates in data collection for procurement/preservation processes, as well as other transplant processes and United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) data, and reports statistical results upon request.

**Minimum Education, Experience, License and Certificates Required:**
1. Must have minimum of 2 years technical work experience in the field of organ donation/organ transplantation OR a minimum of 5 years operating room experience as a surgical technician.
2. As of November 15, 2010 all must meet all education, experience, license, certificate, and training required under the Methodist Healthcare Surgical First Assistant job description:
+ Education: Must have completed ALL of the following:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Successful completion of an accredited surgical first assistant training program.
+ Meets ONE of the following:
+ Graduate/completion of CAAHEP Surgical First Assistant, Surgical Assistant Program, Medical School Graduate OR an allied health professional with 2250 hours of surgical rotation.
+ Practiced as a surgical technologist prior to 9/1/2009
+ Experience: New hires as of 3/29/2011- 2 years experience in the perioperative setting within the last 4 years in either a surgical technologist or surgical first assistant role.
+ Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
+ Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
+ Must have and maintain ONE of the following:
+ A. Surgical Technologist Certification
+ i. CST - Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formally the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist)
+ OR ii. TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
+ B. Surgical First Assistant certification
+ i. SA-C - Surgical Assistant, Certified through the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)
+ ii. CSA - Certified Surgical Assistant through the National Surgical Assistant Association (NSAA)

+ C. LSA- Licensed Surgical Assistant through the Texas Medical Board

This position is an integral role within M&Ts property preservation team that will execute day to day functions including filing and monitoring the insurance claim process for damaged properties, registration and deregistration of properties that are either found vacant or that are currently in the foreclosure process, review of fees assessed/pending to assist in the creation of quotes, and responding to FHA demands and manages the utility payments for our vendors.


Primary Respon sibilities:
  • Maintain fees and costs queue in mortgage servicing system by tracking what costs have occurred and what have yet to be applied to customer's accounts. Indicate what charges might occur in the near future.
  • Respond to FHA demands, including BCDE Claims, and all other claims besides principal. Provide additional documentation as requested as well as reimbursement for work already completed.
  • Process utility bill payments for vendors.
  • Manage the refund task process which requires requesting refunds from the vendor. Determine whether to request a refund or to write off a loss in cases where HUD denied an over-allowable request.
  • Liaise with Accounting, Claims and Foreclosure groups.
  • Complete insurance claims for damaged properties and property registrations.
  • Understand municipal regulations and determine if property needs to be registered based on ordinances.
  • Conduct research to determine if applicable ordinances are available for flagged zip codes.
  • Conduct monthly inspections based on vacancy reports provided by vendor.
  • Complete registrations to include completing forms, making payments online, and gathering and submitting various legal and bank documents. Determine in-state agent who can accept service.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Required:

This individual will support response and recovery efforts across the country, providing expert guidance on regulatory pathways, environmental reviews, and documentation to ensure compliance and maximize funding eligibility. Assist all Divisions in direct client support and deliverables, as needed. Assist on portions of projects and ensure all aspects are completed as outlined in the contract scope of work and timeline. Attend meetings and conference calls with clients. Assist in developing state and local response and pre- and post-disaster recovery plans, procedures, checklists, and guidance documents, as needed. Maintain currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents for applicable roles. During a disaster, you may be called into the field to support relief efforts or assist with organizing responses to support advanced roles in emergency situations and/or activations. Gain experience, train for, and become knowledgeable in all areas of Emergency Management. Maintain/pursue ongoing knowledge, credentials, and development opportunities.
