Position Description:
We are seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach an asynchronous online course on Heritage Risk Management and Security for the Cultural Heritage Management MA program. The ideal candidate will have a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field. Prior to teaching the course in Summer 2026, the candidate will co-teach with an existing faculty mentor in the spring of 2026 to gain familiarity with the program's learning outcomes, students, and course management system. After this mentorship period, the candidate will assume full responsibility for teaching the course in the summer of 2026.
The ideal candidate will exhibit a robust background in risk management, security studies, or related fields, with demonstrated experience in cultural heritage protection or disaster mitigation strategies. They should be enthusiastic about fostering collaborative discussions and preparing students to contribute meaningfully to the future of global heritage preservation. A master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline is required, along with a commitment to inclusive education and student engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ An advanced degree in a relevant field, with a master's degree at minimum.
+ At least three years of professional work experience in heritage management or disaster mitigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ A terminal degree in a relevant field
+ 1-3 years of graduate-level teaching experience
+ Five years of professional work experience in heritage management or disaster mitigation
+ Strong interest in advising graduate students interested in a cereer in the heritage sector
Salary: $7,210 per course

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Professional Architect license in Maryland (or ability to obtain quickly).
  • Minimum of 10 years of architectural experience, with a significant focus on historic preservation and structural rehabilitation.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software.
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and preservation standards (e.g., Secretary of the Interior's Standards).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
