Overview
Monday - Friday.
$5,000 sign on bonus.
Delivers and picks up materials throughout the institution and between off-site locations and the Medical Center. Sets up equipment where appropriate. Performs inventory of medical supplies. Participates in continuous improvement activities. All responsibilities may not be assigned to each individual under this job description.
Responsibilities
* Delivers and picks up linen, medical supplies, laboratory specimens, mail, finance designated items, pharmaceuticals, durable medical equipment, and other items throughout the institution and between off-site locations and the Medical Center.
* Moves materials within the Medical Center complex both on scheduled rounds and upon request.
* Transports items between off-site locations and the Medical Center.
* Performs special runs to transport supplies and/or equipment on an urgent basis.
* Collects soiled linen or loaded waste carts from designated pick-up areas and move to appropriate disposition area. Returns clean empty carts to pick-up areas.
* When handling soiled linen or used equipment perform works under JCAHO and OSHA guidelines and utilizes universal precautions.
* Performs appropriate preoperative maintenance checks on any assigned hospital vehicle. Ensures that required service or emergency service is referred.
* Provides occasional coverage of dispatch by performing duties which include answering the telephone and generating pick tickets for requested supplies and deliveries.
* Performs inventory of medical supplies:
* Maintains storeroom inventory by performing cycle counts on assigned items, putting stock away in the correct location and rotating stock.
* Requisitions orders for inventory items including medical supplies, forms and tanks.
* Restocks code carts and airway boxes.
* Maintains storeroom and receiving security.
* Maintains, delivers and sets up durable medical equipment, including beds and bed related equipment, orthopedic equipment, pumps and other equipment.
* Maintains manual and/or electronic records of equipment usage and location in compliance with the Safe Device Act of 1990 and JCAHO standards, for tracking, billing, utilization and maintenance purposes.
* Maintains organization of rental beds and equipment. Assumes responsibility for efficient usage and availability of rental equipment.
* Coordinates the replacement/repair of broken equipment. Works collaboratively with Engineering and Bio-Medical Engineering staff to locate equipment for preventative maintenance and recalls.
* Requests maintenance on medical capital equipment within the department.
* Requisition materials for use with the equipment, including restocking of traction cart.
* Maintains all bed park areas and deliver items as needed. Delivers and stores beds in the space provided.
* Makes rounds, as scheduled or directed, to locate equipment no longer in service and returns it for required processing.
* Performs audit checks on all department emergency equipment.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
* High school graduate preferred.
* Good communication skills desired.
* Previous hospital work or mechanical experience preferred.
* The ability to prioritize and work with constant interruptions required.
* Basic computer skills required.
* Must be able to lift and carry heavy loads up and down stairs and push/pull heavy carts in accordance with D-H safety and ergonomic guidelines.
* May require walking 15 miles and the ability to stand all during shift.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required in accordance with D-H's Driver Disqualifications Guidelines.
- Tow motor license/certification may be required for some duties.
- The ability to be bonded at Hospital expense required.

  • Complies with all Joint Commission and Department of Health requirements and ensures work area is compliant with requirements.

  • Responds to recall request timely to ensure product and equipment are removed from circulation to ensure patient and staff safety.

  • Customer:

  • Maintains a professional working relationship with, and provides customer service to, clinical staff and other internal departments.

  • Interacts with patients and patient family during patient transport and upon hospital discharge. Provides last impression to patient upon discharge from the hospital.

  • Other:

  • Assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment in the Receiving, Distribution, and PAR supply rooms areas, keeping those areas free of fire and safety hazards

  • Notes any shipping discrepancies or damages on the shipping documentation

  • Packages and processes supplies and materials being returned to vendors or other facilities and coordinates shipping

  • Rotates and stores stock supplies within its designated Distribution Storeroom or PAR location

  • Monitors Distribution stock levels to assure that adequate levels are maintained and brings inventory discrepancies to the attention of the Inventory Control Specialist and Supply Chain Operations Supervisor

  • Inventories par level supply storage areas utilizing a handheld computer or manual inventory method

  • Responsible for the accurate replenishment, maintenance, and exchange of clinical procedure carts

  • Works closely with the Biomed department in maintaining the clinical equipment by performing a user level pre-maintenance check

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

  • Four years' experience in receiving, distribution of products, warehousing, storekeeping, hospital Central Service or Inventory Control preferred (or combination of knowledge and education that would exhibit the qualifications to execute the duties of the position)

  • Experience with DH MMIS system (PeopleSoft)

  • Ability to utilize the EPIC system to monitor requests from clinical staff

  • Computer input/keyboard experience desired

  • Computerized Supply Chain Management system experience preferred

  • Experience in using an electronic signature software preferred

  • Basic experience in PC business applications including MS Word and Excel

  • Knowledge of hospital medical supplies and terminology

    M-F 2-10:30pm Linen.

    * Replenishes, maintains, and exchanges clinical procedure carts. May deliver medications or have access to medication storage areas to deliver supplies, IV solutions, or equipment.
    * Notes any shipping discrepancies or damages on the shipping documentation
    * Packages and processes supplies and materials being returned to vendors or other facilities and coordinates shipping
    * Rotates and stores stock supplies within its designated Distribution Storeroom or PAR location
    * Monitors Distribution stock levels to assure that adequate levels are maintained and brings inventory discrepancies to the attention of the Inventory Control Specialist and Supply Chain Operations Supervisor
    * Inventories par level supply storage areas utilizing a handheld computer or manual inventory method
    * Picks supplies from stock and replenishes department par level storage areas
    * Inputs, picks, packages, and delivers department supply requisitions and shopping guide orders
    * Receipts for all incoming supplies and materials from vendors, carriers, and delivery services noting any shipping discrepancies or damages on the shipping documentation
    * Credits unused, serviceable stock supplies returned from departments
    * Checks dated stock to insure acceptable expiration periods and disposes of expired stock according to inventory control procedures
    * Creates, updates, and processes department shopping guides and par level listings as directed utilizing the Material Management computer system
    * Works closely with the Inventory Control Specialist in maintaining the accuracy of the products in the supply locations
    * Assists in the annual physical inventory
    Equipment:
    * Operates material handling equipment to include pallet jacks, pallet lift, hand trucks, and flatbed or stock carts
    * Participates in all phases of product and equipment recalls throughout the facilities, locates and secures product and processes according to procedure
    * Manages the collection of soiled clinical equipment from around facility following established Infection Prevention guidelines
    * Manages the distribution of clinical equipment to set PAR levels on clinical floors utilizing the RFID system
    * Responsible for the accurate replenishment, maintenance, and exchange of clinical procedure carts
    * Works closely with the Biomed department in maintaining the clinical equipment by performing a user level pre-maintenance check
    Qualifications
    * High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
    * Four years’ experience in receiving, distribution of products, warehousing, storekeeping, hospital Central Service or Inventory Control preferred (or combination of knowledge and education that would exhibit the qualifications to execute the duties of the position)
    * Experience with DH MMIS system (PeopleSoft)
    * Ability to utilize the EPIC system to monitor requests from clinical staff
    * Computer input/keyboard experience desired
    * Computerized Supply Chain Management system experience preferred
    * Experience in using an electronic signature software preferred
    * Basic experience in PC business applications including MS Word and Excel
