TheLinux System Administratorshall perform system administration for the operating systems for which they have responsibility. The Contractor shall administer Windows Network in an enterprise environment along with applicable Linux servers/devices. The Windows Network is 95% virtualized with VMware as the software and Flash and Hybrid Storage Arrays. This includes but not limited to: DNS, DHCP, AD, and IIS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Perform system administration for the operating systems for which they have responsibility.
+ Administer Windows Network in an enterprise environment along with applicable Linux servers/devices.
+ Track vulnerabilities and perform patching on Linux systems to be in compliance with requirements set forth by DOI/IA.
+ Establish file storage shares/folders with the proper ACL permissions; new and migrated.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent
+ 5+ years of relevant experience

+ Monitor server application for availability, latency, and gateway queuing and maintain current knowledge of vendor upgrades and patches for both the server and client applications.
+ Perform systems management and system monitoring and upgrade of all required Microsoft and Linux based systems/servers.
+ Utilize new data storage and replication technologies to ensure that all data is managed to provide full backup(s) and Continuity of Operations and Disaster Recovery.
+ Monitor the server application, system and security logs using various tools such as Microsoft Operational Management server VMWare vSphere, Qwest Auditor and NetIQ.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Associate's degree or Certificate from technical training institute required.
+ 4+ years of related technical experience in supporting Information Technology environment at the server/data center level. Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
+ Experience serving as SME for information technology projects.
+ Background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to support Microsoft and Linux Operating systems.

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Linux Administrator to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This Contract-to-Permanent position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of Linux-based systems designed to support research computing environments. The role requires knowledge in Linux systems, virtualization, storage solutions, and security protocols to ensure scalable and efficient systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize Linux-based systems tailored to meet research computing requirements.
- Evaluate existing environments to identify needs and propose solutions for system upgrades and configurations.
- Architect virtualization and storage solutions to support virtual machines and ensure redundancy.
- Collaborate with vendors and procurement teams to acquire necessary hardware and software.
- Plan and implement network and security solutions for both physical and virtual servers across multiple locations.
- Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and migrate Linux virtual machines designed for database support.
- Assess and select the most suitable virtualization technologies based on research and security needs.
- Facilitate the migration of systems from existing data centers to newly designed environments.
- Provide ongoing support and ensure system reliability for research-specific computing infrastructures.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux system administration.
- Proficiency in Red Hat Linux (RHEL) and related distributions.
- Strong knowledge of server virtualization technologies like VMware and KVM.
- Experience with hypervisors and managing virtualized environments.
- Familiarity with Oracle databases and their integration with Linux systems.
- Solid understanding of storage architecture and redundancy mechanisms.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in Linux-based systems.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
