We are seeking individuals who have an interest in technical problem solving to fill the position of System Design Specialist for our Fredericksburg location. The System Design group plays a key role in growing Kaeser's market share by helping to design compressed air systems throughout the country. Come work with this highly skilled group, who will help train you and prepare you for the next step in your technical career. This is an entry level position.
Duties include:
+ Completing energy audits and performing analysis based on field-submitted data.
+ Designing compressed air stations to meet customers' specifications.
+ This includes specifying equipment, creating P&I diagrams, CAD layouts, electrical diagrams, and configuring master controllers.
+ Designing new products, and developing / modifying existing Kaeser products based on market needs and customer requirements.
+ Working with senior personnel for on-the-job training

This Engineer will be responsible for analyzing system requirements which come from customer (OEM), attending meetings with the customer to refine and define system requirements, and create the system specifications for the product. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Fuel System Design Engineer will serve as discipline designer leader on projects that include an emphasis on receipt, storage, transfer, and issue of finished fuel products such as aviation jet fuel, diesel fuel, ethanol, and motor gasoline.
+ Projects include tanker truck fuel receipt, marine vessel fuel receipt, aboveground and underground transfer pipelines, aboveground and underground horizontal and vertical fuel storage tanks, and aircraft and tanker truck fuel issue systems. Projects will also include ground vehicle refueling systems such as fleet and retail service stations.
+ Position will include responsibility for development of discipline specific design execution plans for assigned projects. Position will be responsible for completing projects on schedule and within the established budgets and for ensuring that all discipline specific contract requirements have been met.
+ Fuel System Design Engineer will assist in training and supervision of work of junior engineers conducting fuel system design work.
+ Fueling System Design Engineer will work and coordinate with multidiscipline engineering teams including civil, structural, and electrical engineers.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ BA/BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering + 6 Years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Experience working with and coordinating with multidiscipline design teams.
+ Fuel system, process engineering, and/or oil and gas design experience.
+ Ability to travel one week per month inside the US and internationally.
+ Experience and ability to use AutoCAD.
+ Professional Engineer, or ability to obtain PE licensure within 6 months of employment.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Familiarity with surge analysis software and experience adjusting piping systems to reduce or remove the potential for pressure surges during system operation.
+ Familiarity with thermal pipe stress analysis software and experience adjusting piping systems to ensure stress levels in the piping systems are in accordance with acceptable levels listed in ASME B31.1.
+ Familiarity with hydraulic, pipe and fuel pump sizing calculation methods and software. Experience using hand calculations and software to calculate fuel pump motor hp requirements.
+ Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) fuel system design and experience with fuel system design requirements of USACE, AFCEC, and NAVFAC agencies.
+ Familiarity with commercial codes and regulations related to fuel system design such as the IFC, NFPA 30, NFPA 30A, and NFPA 407.
+ Commercial aviation fuel system design experience.

**Job Description:**
Leads others to identify, evaluate and document complex computing system requirements. Leads activities to architect, design, build and test delivery systems and components. Provides technical leadership to evaluate product usability, affordability, functionality, security and performance to assess suitability for integration into delivery system environments. Provides technical support and consultation for the implementation and usage of complex delivery systems.
The AV engineering will design, configure, and operate advanced AV systems for US government customers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Survey, plan, develop, design, configure, and test multi-classification AV solutions for government customers. Generate custom audiovisual system designs, including DSP layoutsand systems configuration.
- Lead or attend customer stakeholder meetings to collect and document or validate system requirements. Research, identify, and recommend technology options to solve customer problems.
- Draft system engineering documentation, including signal flows, line diagrams, bills of materials, rack elevations, and cable plants.
- Support onsite installation of AV systems and lead system configuration phases. Coordinate with customer facilities teams and other onsite sub-contractors and vendors during systems installation as required.
- Support the development of end-user training materials and operations & maintenance plans. - Perform in-house testing and on-site commissioning at client locations.
- Develop expertise in the industry through continuing training, certifications, and review of trade publications .This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance , for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):**
.- 5+ years of related work experience for level 4.
- Must be able to travel to various job sites as needed.
- AV systems field installation experience.
- This position is for first shift but may require occasional compensated, ad hoc support after hours.
**Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):**
- Associate degree or higher.
- AVIXA CTScertification.
- DSP platform (Biamp, QSC, etc.) experience.
- Experience with Crestron, Extron, and Thinklogical systems.
- An adjudicated Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph.
**Education / Experience:**
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience, 13 years' related work experience, etc.).

**Job Description**
**HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT**
The System Design Engineer (SDE) analyzes the stakeholder's needs and expectations, achieving complete understanding of the system problem space, establishing the requirements for the system and ensuring that all requirements relevant for product development are clarified.
The SDE is also responsible for defining the architecture of the system / product. In cooperation with the discipline design engineers such as electrical, software, display technology and mechanical, the System Design Engineer ensures the system architecture is assigned / covered into the respective R&D disciplines designs/architectures.
The SDE covers an end-to-end responsibility of technical aspects (left side of V-cycle) in order to ensure that requirements of all life cycle stages are addressed with best choice solutions in terms of quality, delivery and costs. They will be responsible for independent development solutions to problems in vehicle architecture as well as creation of competitive technical product concepts which are part of our Head up displays and drive those solutions into production.
Main Project Tasks - 70% of workload:
The System Design Engineer will be responsible for optical systems such as Heads Up Display (HUD), Scenic View (SV), Display Back lights and other similar type product for automotive applications.
**Requirements Management:**
+ Choose re-use concept in terms of product type related needs (own system and discipline documents)
+ Managing and participation in reviews to identify Requirements inconsistencies.
**Requirements Development:**
+ Participate in the elicitation of the requirements.
+ Participate in the analysis of the requirements (analyzing, categorizing, prioritizing).
+ Identify functional requirements inconsistencies and clarify those directly with the stakeholder.
+ Identify missing requirements and eliminate those in close cooperation with the stakeholder.
+ Document the requirements in the Performance Specification. This includes requirement refinement if necessary.
+ Ensure that the Performance Specification is in line with the customer needs.
+ Organization and participation in the documentation of the requirements in the Performance Specification.
+ Create the traceability from own documents to source.
+ Create necessary data for reporting purposes out of all own Requirements documents.
+ Take over PSM 1st draft. Refine and finalize the PSM with discipline specific requirements.
**Product Architecture:**
+ Develop a technical concept for the product to be developed based on the customer and internal requirements, together with the discipline architects
+ Ensures the technical feasibility of the solution incl. manufacturability in compliance with requirements and attainment of targets for costs, time schedule, risk and quality
+ Ensures the compliance with legal and internal requirements (e.g. platform concept for embedded controller, standard components or similar) and Customer Standards
+ Coordinates the interfaces between SW-, EE- and ME-development, focusing on potential conflicts and cross-discipline impacts between the individual solutions
+ Files the system architecture-related documents in the configuration management system
+ Ensures the availability of a D-FMEA Facilitator and a clear understanding of his responsibilities in the project
+ Identifies, analyses and documents special characteristics
**REQUIRED SKILLS**
**Technical skills:**
+ Process experience on Change-, Version- and Requirements Management (CMMI, SPICE)
+ Tool know how for Change-, Version- and Requirements Management
+ Good understanding of Systems Engineering.
+ Optical System design and simulation experience using tools similar to SPEOS, Zemax,.
+ Excellent know how in discipline specific technologies, such as HUD and Sterioscopic.
+ In-depth experience with the product portfolio (HUD, Scenic View, Display Back Light,etc).
+ Able to lead a team thru the quotation process for HUD or similar product acting as the technical lead.
+ Good knowledge of the product components (electrical engineering, software, mechanical engineering)
+ Knowledge of development (all disciplines), test, integration and production (sample and final product) processes
+ Coordinates the interfaces between SW-, EE- and ME-development, focusing on potential conflicts and cross-discipline impacts between the individual solutions
+ Work with cross-functional (SW, HW, system, production, optics, quality, test and validation, FEA, etc.) teams to achieve desired product performance

**Qualifications**
**Experience:**
Experience required in the design and development of optical systems, such as HUD and display back lights and project work within a project team. Consider very experienced in his field of Optics and Mechanics. In addition, the candidate should be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
**Qualifications:**
+ The candidate for this position should have a bachelor's degree in Optical or Mechanical Engineering or comparable, Masters or higher is preferred.
+ At least 5 years of experience in optical systems design.
+ Capable of detecting or recognizing problems and identify possible solutions.
+ Automotive product development experience.
+ Highly Motivated, Creative, Results Oriented, Quality Oriented, Able to make Decisions.
+ Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work across multiple disciplines. (Optics Designers, Electronics, Systems)
+ Experience required in the design and development of optical systems.
+ Consider very experienced in his field.
+ The candidate should be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Able to work in a team
+ Excellent verbal/written communication skills and organizational and time management.
+ Proficient in English.
+ Customer presentations and leading technical discussions.

System One is seeking a highly motivated Instrumentation & Control (I&C) System Design Engineer for a 12-month remote contract position supporting advanced nuclear technologies. This role offers the chance to work on next-generation reactor systems alongside a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team.
As an I&C System Design Engineer, you will be responsible for system design, prototype development and testing, plant-level system integration, and commissioning. The role requires collaboration with internal and external engineers, scientists, and technical specialists to advance state-of-the-art instrumentation and control systems for advanced nuclear applications.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Develop I&C systems and subsystem functional requirements through final design.
+ Oversee and review system- and component-level specifications, scopes of work, and technical deliverables.
+ Create and manage drawing packages, including P&IDs, control system architecture drawings, loop diagrams, and instrument installation drawings.
+ Prepare and review technical documentation such as System Requirements Documents, System Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, and Engineering Design Specifications.
+ Analyze and apply nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory criteria to I&C designs.
+ Provide technical oversight for suppliers, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to design requirements.
+ Collaborate with procurement, licensing, safety analysis, and PRA teams for cross-functional design integration.
+ Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance design processes and apply nuclear industry best practices.
+ Specify instrumentation measurement techniques for advanced reactor and high-temperature systems, evaluating accuracy, range, and response time.
+ Interface with licensing activities and Safety Analysis Reports.
Qualifications:
+ B.S. or higher in Controls, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
+ 18+ years of direct experience in instrumentation and controls systems (advanced degrees may count toward experience).
+ Proven track record in I&C development, diagnostics, and implementation.
+ Prior experience with nuclear reactor safety systems or nuclear instrumentation design.
+ Familiarity with applicable nuclear quality standards (e.g., 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1) and IEEE standards (379, 603, 7-4.3.2, 497).
+ Experience with high-temperature (400°C+) process design preferred.
+ Knowledge of process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs), and CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks preferred.
+ Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
+ Ability to work independently and lead design efforts with minimal supervision.
+ Experience with I&C system startup testing procedures a plus.
